Show Fred . ! Obituaries C. Lowry George C. Lowry, 65, of 578 South Second East, Brigham City, died Wednesday, Jan. 12,' 1977, in Brigham City Community hospital after a short illness. He was born Dec. 23, 1911, in Savanna, Okla., a son of S. W. and Priscilla Pitchlynn Lowry. He married Clarissa Benjamin on May 23, 1938, in Lawrence, Kan. He had lived in Brigham City for the past 25 years and had retired as plant manager from Intermountain school. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and Amity Lodge No. 23, F.&A.M., where he had served as a past master. He was a member of the York and Scottish rite and the El Kalah Shrine temple and was a past grand patron of the Order of the Eastern Star of the state of Utah. He was a member of the Corinne Eastern Star lodge. He was past president of the Northern Utah Shrine club and of Gideon International and was instrumental in bringing the Jobs Daughters and DeMolay programs into Brigham City. Survivors include his wife of Brigham City; one son and two daughters. Bill Lowry, Brigham City; Mrs. James (Kay) Glass, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Chad (Pat) Jones, Brigham City; five grandchildren; one brother, and six sisters, Thomas Lowry, Osburn, Idaho; Mrs. W. W. (Mima) Richardson, Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Jack (Agnes) Carter, Mrs. Velma Toole, and Miss Iva Lowry, all of McCalister, Okla.; Mrs. Hoyt Woodall, Roseberg, Ore.; Mrs. K. S. (Wanda) Jones, Yuma, Ariz. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Community was owner and operator of Baugh Plumbing company and Baugh Bros. Farms, Logan. He was an active member of the LDS church, having served as a bishop and member of the stake high council and stake presidency. He was a member of the Utah Cattlemen's association and Utah Herford association and was an active soloist in the Cache valley area. Among survivors is a son, Fred B. Baugh, Jr., of Brigham City. Glauser Martha Niederhausern Glauser, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 1977, in a Logan nursing home of causes incident to age. She was born Aug. 26, 1887, in Switzerland to Rudolph and Elizabeth Trachfel Niederhausern. She was married to Frederick Glauser on March 30, 1911, in the Logan LDS temple. He died Nov. 4, 1970. She was an active member of the LDS church. Among survivors is a son, Kenneth A. Glauser of Brigham City. Funeral services will be held Friday at noon in Cranney Mortuary chapel in Logan. Friends may call this evening (Thursday) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the mortuary and Friday one hour before services. Burial will be in Logan City cemetery. Ronald Lee, 27, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Willard, was killed in an airplane crash Saturday, Jan. 8, 1977, at Benson, Ariz. He was born April 2, 1949, in Ogden, a son of Leo J. and Helen Harrop Lee. He attended elementary school in Willard and had lived in California. He was a member of the LDS Presbyterian church with Rev. Richard Lawson ducting. Friends may call at the family home, 578 South Second East, Thursday evening and Friday at Petersen Funeral chapel from 11:30 a.m. until time of services. Interment will be in Brigham City cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Shrin-er- s Crippled Childrens hospital, Gideon Memorial Bible or American Cancer Society. The family of Ethel Romer Terry William Young Terry William Young, 76, of Fourth West, Brigham City, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 1977, at his home of natural causes. He was born Dec. 9, 1900, in Moroni, a son of William Reynolds and Lydia Bradley Young. He married Afton Jensen on Sept. 3, 1927, in Pocatello, Idaho. The marriage was solemnized in the LDS Salt Lake tem436 South ple in February 1928. He attended Goshen, Idaho, schools and had lived in Wol- J. Ronald Lee church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lynn Lee, and a daughter, Jennifer Lee, both of Las Vegas; his parents of Victorville, Calif.; three brothers and two sisters, Perry Lee, Long Beach, Calif.; Gene Lee, serving with the USU Air Force in Texas; Jon Ray Lee, Lisa Lee, both of Victorville; Sindy Lee, Provo. Also surviving are his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bradshaw, Willard. ' Funeral services were conducted Wednesday in Victor- ville. Graveside services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in the Willard cemetery, directed by Olsen Funeral service of Brigham City. Perry native heads society sr. citizens Around the World in Music will theme a musical presentation following the regular Friday luncheon for area senior citizens at the Brigham City verine and Pocatello, Idaho, and in Brigham City since 1972. He was a retired railroader and a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the Eagles lodge in Idaho Falls. He was a high priest in the Brigham City Fifth ward and had been active in Sunday school and YMMIA. Surviving are his widow of Brigham City; two sons and a daughter, Richard Terry Young of Brigham City; William R. Young of Shelley, Idaho, and Mrs. Joseph B. (Alleen) Uriona of Brigham City; 17 grandchildren; three one brother and one sister, Silas J. Young of Boise, Idaho, and Mrs. Tom (Maggie) Fackrell of Hoquiam, Wash. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Goshen, Idaho, LDS chapel. Burial was in Goshen cemetery. OUR DEEPEST THANKS The family of Nancy E. Olsen as the program chairman, Senior Director Hazel Kaiser said. Erma Barfuss is supervisor of food preparation with Beth Dunn, Faun Maughan and Lois Johnson assisting. Monday Luncheons Monday luncheons follow a morning of activity and bingo is played during the afternoon at the center. Luncheon cost is 75 cents. Square dancing follows in the evening with the Golden Spike Swingers at 7 p.m. Thursday night dances are always fun with refreshments and innovations by Mary Leone Cazair and Mary Kimber committee hostesses. Live music is presented and dancing begins at 8:30 p.m. On Jan. 20 a Roaring Twenties theme will create an evening of fun with everyone invited to wear something of that era. Sco-ther- and Logan Ogden dancers participate and the Brigham City dancers attend the Logan and Ogden dances. Admission is $1 per person, Mrs. Kaiser said. Quilting on Wednesday Quilting on Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 noon is sponsored by the community education program of Box Elder School district with fabric available through the Barbizon company. Card players will have a monthly party on Jan. 19 which is a special day. Everyone interested is invited to call Emily Severns to arrange a table of bridge, canasta or pinochle. He was born March 11, 1903, in Logan, a son of Francis H. and Alice Summerill Baugh. He married Grace Howell on June 5, 1929, in the Salt Lake LDS temple. At the time of his death, he Martha N. Thorne, fessor pro- agronomy at the of University of Illinois, assumed his new duties as president of the American Society of Agronomy at ceremonies held during the societys annual banquet. He succeeds Dr. Fred L. Patterson, professor of Agronomy at Purdue university, as the leader of the scientific, educational organization. Dr. Thorne has been at the University of Illinois since 1963, serving as head of the agronomy department until 1970. He 9,000-memb- had previously headed the Agronomy Department at Oklahoma State university, serve as an irrigation work project leader with the U.S. Department of Agricultures Aricultural Research Service, and headed the agronomy department of the Pineapple Research institute in Hawaii. At the present time. Dr. Thorne conducts research and Dr. Marlowe D. Thorne extension programs dealing with irrigation of field and assumes leadership . . . vegetable crops. He also conducts an extension program on the use of municipal wastes on agricultural land. Dr. Thorne is an ASA fellow and has served on numerous committees and editorial boards of the ASA and of the Soil Science Society of America. A native of Perry, Dr. Thorne received his B.S. in chemistry at Utah State university, his M.S. in soils at Iowa State university, and his Ph.D. in soils at Cornell university. He is married to the former Merle Carter of Perry, the daughter of Mrs. Edna Merrell of Brigham City. They have four children, two sons and two daughters.
