Allen waa sustained as president of the Portage Ward Relief society at Sacra- afternoon swimming at ment meeting here Sunday evening with counselors, Elma J. Bell and Carol W. Parkinson. Retiring presidency are Fay V. Thomas, Vera R. Morris and Mary Y. John. Thora Thompson Allen is the wife of Ellis Allen and is a native of Clarkston. Elma John Bell is the wife of Arvel Bell Jr. and Carol Ward Parkinson is the wife of Barry Parkinson and is a native of Woodruff. Upon their arrival frqm Rex-burIdaho Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Hawks and family were the recipients of many lovely and useful gifts presented to them by the people of this community. A surprise shower hosted by Mrs. Wendell C. Hall, assisted by her friends, was given at the ward cultural hall Friday afternoon for the Hawks family who lost most of their possesions June 5 in the Teton Dam flood. The afternoon was spent making a quilt for the Hawks family. Gaipes were played and refreshments were served to the large group of ladies in attendance. Of Ward Visit Eric Ward and son Craig of McCombe, Neb. visited Monday with their grandparents and great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Conley. Mrs. Virgil Harris attended funeral services in Malad Thursday for Daniel Daniels and for Mary Jane Dpll Jones, both 87 years of aijge. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Morris and son Vaughn were Sunday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Morris .and son David of Garland. Mrs. Ralph Howell and Mrs. Rose Harris were Brigham City visitors Friday. Gibbs family reunion was held Saturday at the Portage Ward meeting house hosted by the family of, the late Harold and Vera Gibbs . Ninety-seve- n family members were present.
