Show Brigham City, Utah Thursday, June 24, 1976 8 At Heritage theatre BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Phyllis Burt accepts Workshop bids Utah writers A writers workshop is duled at Heritage theatre Saturday, June 26, and the public is invited to attend, it was announced this week. Heritage is the former LDS church building located on the highway in Perry. Planned by the League of Utah Writers, the workshop will begin with registration at 9:30 a.m. and continue until about 2:30 p.m. A light lunch will be served free of charge, a spokesman said. The workshop will focus on fiction, poetry, articles and league offerings and is supported by a grant from the Utah State Division of Fine Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, D.C, Principals in the various sessions will include Arlene Hamblin, Geraldine Pratt and Clarence P. Socwell. The workshop invites the beginner who has always wanted to write but desires some training and for the experienced ' officers of Box Elder High school will begin duties next year. He is most funny when he gets up in the morning and he mumbles and scratches his head. And he likes to play with me. In our little neighborhood circle we have a bunch of mighty special guys because each and every one of the little, kids insisted that my daddy is the bestest in the whole world. And one went so far as to. say s and even Wyoming. In commemoration of Fathers day the three Sunday schools each had a program Sunday morning. The First ward began its program with a special musical selection by Kirsten and Wendy Woodland and Trevin and Shawn Campbell. Diane Olsen as speaker was followed by another musical selection from Alice Larsen and Cally Nebeker. Brent Campbell was the concluding speaker. In the Second ward, a poem was given by Tom Braegger. The narrator was Ruth Harding. The readers were Richard Wilson, William flail, Allan Tingey, Harvey Braegger, Fritz Clausen, Orland Peck and Glen Kunzler. i ' Special Performance . A special performance was given by the Junior Sunday school when they sang Fathers Are So Special, Daddys Homecoming, and My Dad while a slide presentation was being flashed on a screen over their heads. In the Third ward, the Junior Sunday school began the program with the song My Dad. The narrator was Sandra Carlson. A poem was given by Susan Summers. Reed Pettingill and Pat Tremelling each gave talks followed by the Junior Sunday school singing Daddys Home- - darndest things coming. A poem by Rick Woodland was followed by the children singing I Am A Child of God. Last Saturday the Young Homemakers held a combination rummage sale and bake sale at the parking lot at the store. They were most appreciative of those who donated and those who supported the undertaking. Our congratulations to Kevin and Karen Ball Stander who were honored at an open house last Saturday night. They plan to make their home here in Willard and we are most pleased to welcome them as new neighbors. Best wishes to Ronda Johnson who smashed her thumb in a car door and necessitated having the nail removed. We send condolences to the family and friends of Monte Zundel. We also extend special sympathies to Karen Huckaby on the death of her brother, Theron Grover. New Leaderships " The Lions have installed their new leadership for the coming year in ceremonies held at their dinner meeting at the Maddox last Thursday. Lewis Harding led the group in a song after which Eldon Watts gave the opening prayer. The installation was conducted by Deputy District Governor Wayne Priebe. The officers are Darrell Stucki, president; Tolli-so- n Beames, vice president; Scott Monson, secretary-treasure- r; Sid Bodily, lion tamer; Cliff Brimberry, tail twister and the board directors are Robert Morgan, Boyd Nelson, Chet Keyes and Lewis Harding. Those present included Wayne Priebe, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Hunsaker, Scott Monson, Darrell Stuckie, LeRoy and Francis Dowdle, Chet and Grace Keyes, Eldon and Madge Watts, Bill and Shana Hall, Lewis and Ruth Harding, Wayne and LuDene Young, Don and DeeRae Chris- writer who wants tips and procedures for improvement and marketing. Stephens, who is sometimes called the father of Mormon music, was a choir director here in Willard for many years before he was called as the director of the Salt Lake Tabernacle Choir.
