Rain, Rain, Howdy rain, I'm so glad you've come again! TOere are so many kinds of farms around here that some of us like the rain and some dont. Oh, but I think it is beautiful when it rains. Its the only time that I get to see my husband during the summer! This past week has been another busy one so Id better just start off with the news of . town. Two of our towns missionaries have returned home recently, Kevin Hardy son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hardy and David Weidman son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Weidman. Our primary objective is to incorporate new artillery techniques which have recently been developed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Essentially, we're trying to create a more streamlined and responsive artillery unit. Were using tactics geared to match the current Soviet tactics. Utah and Wyoming guard units swapped locations for, training this summer hoping that the new environment would provide more of a challenge in terms of tactics and maneuvers land therefore a more meaningful training experience, according to Major Coy of XI Corp Artillery. Mrs. Dwight Ward of Providence and Mrs. Marion Davis of San Diego visited Mr. and Mrs. Russell Capener, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Capener, Mrs. Lester Coombs, Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Tingey during the week. , Mrs. Mary Marbel and daughters Sharece and Kristy attended a Trouseau Tea for Mrs. Marble's sister-in-la- Miss LuAnn Marble of Beaver Dam held Saturday in the Cultural Hall in Beaver Dam. Visiting Mrs. Lester Coombs during the past week was Mrs. Ross Shirley of Sugar City, Idaho. DlnnerParty Mrs. Lenore Silvester accompanied by her sisters Mrs. Eva Zundel of Ogden and Mrs. Genevieve Jensen of Brigham City enjoyed a dinner party with their sister Mrs. Jane Udy in Plymouth Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fors-berMr. and Mrs. Reese Marble and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Anderson accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Gus Forsberg of Garland attended a wedding reception held in the Old Rock church in Farmington Friday g, evening for Claine Smith of Fielding who claimed Cheri Lynn Nielson of Farmington as his bride in rites performed in the Logan LDS Temple Friday morning. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Smith of Fielding. The brides parents are Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. Nielson of Farmington. The young couple will make their home in Brigham Cty. Following the reception in Farmington Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Reese Marble and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Oleen Marble in Bountiful. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Welling had as their dinner guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Don Welling and family of Evanston, Wyo. Other afternoon visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brough and family of Tremonton. Baptized Spending the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jay Macfar-lan- e and family were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stephens and daughter Shera Ann of North Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Silvester and family and Mrs. Lenore Silvester were in Layton where Ned Silvester baptized and a confirmed his nephew John Silvester, son pf Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Silvester. They were joined by .Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Birks and family of Granger and all enjoyed a dinner party at the Clarence Silvester home. Mrs. Ethel Erickson and family of Salt Lake City visited Mrs. Lenore Silvester during the week. Tuesday Mrs. Lenore Silvester had as her dinner guests her three sisters Mrs. Eva Zundel of Ogden, Mrs. Genevieve Jensen of Brigham City and Mrs. Jane Udy of Plymouth. Visiting Mrs. Esther Coombs last week were her grandchildren Anna Lee and Brent Allred of Riverdale. Enjoying Monday dinner with Mrs. Esther Coombs were her daughter Mrs. Robert E. Whitney and sons Chuck and Mark of Woodscross. them. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hardy traveled to Montana to pick up Kevin. They visited at Casper Wyoming, Sheridan, and Billings Montana on the way. Last Sunday was his welcome home at the church. Allen Hardy gave the opening prayer then Mrs.t Alva Hardy, Kevins mother, game a talk and bore her; testimony. Jack Hardy, Kevins father, then gave his remarks, Then Elder Hardy gave his. report on his mission. From, listening to his remarks you could tell that he was a good missionary. It was a very rewarding meeting. , Hawaii greeting Mr. and Mrs. Byron Weidman traveled to Hawaii to meet their son David. His mission was in Japan. When they returned home, David found a giant sign in front of the house printed in Japanese to welcome him home. Were glad to have these j two back in our ward. A few weeks ago Lorraine Tyler Jenson and Kip Frost. They hiked and cooked their dinners and then came home. On the way down they found some puppies that they brought home. I just bet that their mothers appreciated that! They are trying to pass off some requirements to earn their Nelson, badges. Exercise begins The womens exercise group is starting up a new thing to do. Mrs. Paula Anderson is starting a new class on bicycling. Everyone is invited to attend. This is and excellent way to shape up and get your exercise. It will be $ on RAlEf&H thing different at church last week and I couldnt quite figure out what it was. Then the singing started and I knew what it was! Mrs. Nola Nessler wasn't there to cheer us up with her leading. She has undergone some surgery. I hope that she is feeling better now. Mrs. Mary Gardner lead us in our singing and she did a real good job. Now we know who to get when the original one isn't there! Mayor Lee Johnson and Mrs. Johnson left by plane for to visit their daughter Pam and her husband Bob Byland. They deplaned at Baltimore, Maryland where they spent 3 days traveling over to Washington D.C. where they really enjoyed sightseeting. They spent one day in Philadelphia which is also a place well worth visiting. They saw the Liberty bell among other things which Tully said brought back a little American history Penn-sylavan- ia 4 rose buds were carried by her attendants. Shirlene Jensen was the maid of honor and bridesmaids were Gladys Wilson, Lynn Clawson, Cindy Yearsley and Sandy Yearsley. Scott Jones acted as Mikes best man and Pete Clawson was the usher. Not quite the way I remember it as a child. It doesnt seem as big or so grand and glamourous. But it still has Its that special excitement for young and old alike. Jane Hoopes and I took our sandbox gang to Ogden on Monday to the Shrine Circus. We- enjoyed seeing the ele- phants, lions, and clowns. But I think we were better jugglers than those in the three rings. Two Mothers and five squirming, active little boys is a circus in itself! Open house An open house was held returning missionary, Steve Yearsley reception The weddding reception for Mike and Debbie Yearsley was held in the Mantua Ward Cultural hall last Friday, June 11, 1976. Debbie is the daughter of Morris and Sylvia Clawson and Mike is the son of Ralph and Alice Yearlsey. Debbie chose blue and white for the special colors and white to the Valley hospital last Thursday in an ambulance. At last report he is doing fine. Mrs. Mary Fukuda was taken to the hospital where she underwent an operation. They had to amputate one of her feet. She is doing well and overcoming this. I hope that this is all of the people around here that are going to be in the hospital. I really think that we have had our share of this type of thing lately. Well, I hope they all feel better now, anyway! Hansen, son of Doyle and Carol Hansen. Steve returned June 5 from the Chicago, Illinois area mission. He Was district leader in West Frankfort and Aurora. He served under Darrel Welling, and Neil Christenson. We are glad to have him home and many friends came to greet him. Steve tells of his plans to attend Utah State this fall. Chico visitors Visiting Diane Hall last Tuesday was Mrs. Peggy Williams and her son Bart. Peggy and Bart are from Chico, California. Diane and Peggy were friends back in California. The Governor has asked the people of Utah to plant a million trees for a million people. Mantua has planted and promised 442 trees this spring. Weve got a ways to get yet.
