Show 16 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham Cify, Santa Claus who brought a sack of candy for each child. Almost everyone present sat on his lap and gave him their own list of Utah Thursday, December 25, 1975 this family's fireplace On Way Out Because he was busy, we told our little ones we d stop on the way out of the store. We finished our shopping in record time and as we left the checkout stand our three year old ran to Santa. To everyones surprise but her own Santa called her by name as he took her up on his lap. He told her to be nicer to her baby sister after listening to her list. Then baby explained to Santa in her almost extinct and very obscure Chinese dialect what she wanted. Of course Santa understood every word. Santa looked up and said Well, now you Holden kids have moved, by my elves have told me where you live. But young man you have got to keep your shoes picked up and young lady your room is smaller and youll have to take better care of it. But, Im sure to see you Christmas Eve if youre good. And then I took four children with sticky faces from candy canes home. Three of them, happy and satisified and one little boy with eyes as big as saucers, were signing the carols on the way home. That night as I tucked him into bed he whispered in my ear to tell Santa that he does believe, truely. Hes a lot like the cowardly lion in the Wizard of Oz who walks around saying, Oh, I do believe! I do! I DO! just to make up for his wavering faith. The Lions and their Ladies held their annual Christmas party last week. President Virgil Hunsaker presided. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Wayne Priebe. The prayer was offered by Bob Morgan. The entertainment was provided by Karen Ball who sang and accompanied herself on the guitar. She sang Paper Roses and Merry Christmas, Darling. A dictionary game was played by the group directed by Judy Beames. Each of five people were given a paper with an unsual word printed on it. One was given the definition while the others were given blank pieces of paper. Each of the words were real but some of the definitions were way out. For example, the word sex-fo- il was given . The definitions included a tool, a flower, some one who was foiled in the attempt, one who thought he did itions. The other words included in the fun were nout, wootz, tronk, caymen, joss house, belladona and xyster. Each lady was given a lovely jewelry box and wishes a special Merry Christmas.
