Show Perry Pulse Utah Thursday, December 25, 1975 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, B. ighom City, Community caught up in Christmas activities As the Christmas season is here 1 would like to take this opportunity to wish all the readers of the Perry Pulse a 9 very merry Christmas and may the new year bring everyone lots of good health and much happiness. --4 M I - m&m by Mrs. Max Nelson The community of Perry has been caught up in the activities the Christmas season brings each year. Family parties and have community activities ushered in the final days before Christmas. It seems many spend the entire year preparing for this one special day and then when you ask them the day before Christmas if theyre ready, nine chances out of ten youll receive a negative answer. Too many times the true meaning of Christmas is given way to Santa and all the bright tinsel of the season. The giving and sharing, which are the true message behind Christmas, are not enjoyed. This is a time to pause and remember our saviors birth, for this is why we celebrate Christmas. The Perry City Council held a town Christmas party last Thursday evening for all members of the community. Santa Claus was on hand to pass out a sack of candy and nuts and to greet the children, taking last minute orders. Have Dinner The Perry First Ward Primary officers and teachers enjoyed a Christmas the home of Mrs. Mercy Madsen Wednesday evening. A delicious planned potluck luncheon was enjoyed. The evening was spent playing bingo with prizes. Gifts were exchanged. Harold Peterson has returned home after receiving medical care in the McKay hospital in Ogden. Roses are Houseguests Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Rose and family of San Francisco who are houseguests of Mrs. Hazel Rose spent Saturday evening in Brigham City enjoying dinner at the Elks club along with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Rose of Brigham City. Mayor and Mrs. George Hales are spending the Christmas holidays visiting their and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Betty) Perrault in San Jose, Calif. Arriving Christmas Eve to spend the holidays visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Wood were their and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mason and family of San Gabriel, Calif. On Christmas Day they will be joined by Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Terry and family of Bountiful, Mr. and Mrs. Neal Wood and family of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Boman and family of Lewiston and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wood and family of Garland for a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Sunday Mrs. Hazel Rose accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Rose and family of San Francisco visited Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Blau in Roy. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ashby and family will join Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bair and family of Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Anderson and family of Tucson, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Cottle and family of Clarkston, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Cottle and family of Smithfield for a family dinner party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Ravsten in Logan Christmas Day. Christmas evening Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ashby will have as their guests Mr, and Mrs. Ralph Ashby of Fielding, Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Ashby and family of Wellsville, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Burgess and family, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ashby and family, Mr. and Mrs. Coy Ashby and family of Tremonton, Mr. and Ms. Dennis McNeeley and family of Brigham City. A program will be presented, a light luncheon served and gifts exchan- CENTER received a new American flag last week, one that was flown over the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. Milt Bywater, a member of the center's staff, receives the flag from Chief of Police Stephen M. Studdert. The flag was arranged for by Senator Jake Garn especially for the community center. The five by seven flag flew over the capitol on Dec. 10. THE COMMUNITY in- - Garland Gazette Harmon Piersons host couple from California by Flo Munson Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Pierson the past week were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Adams of Yuba City, Calif. They came especially to attend the,jyedding of their son Kent LeRoy Adams who claimed Jackie Stephens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Stephens, as his bride in rites performed in the Salt Lake City temple last Wednesday. Vi; 4 3 1 Friday evening a reception honoring the newlyweds was held in the LDS Institute of Religion on College Hill in Logan. Attending the reception from this area were Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Pierson, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Atkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Pierson of East Garland, Mrs. J.R. Garfield, Mrs. Paul Wight and Miss Ardes Adams of Tremonton. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. W.Lee Thompson attended a party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brigham Godfrey in Clarkston for W. Lee Thompsons sister Mrs. Annie T. Godfrey who was observing her 91st birthday anniversary. Other guests were Mrs. Ettie Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Don Thompson of Clarkston. A delicious chicken dinner was enjoyed followed by a social. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Drake of Salt Lake City spent the weekend at their newly purchased home in Garland which was formerly owned by Mrs. Mildred Last. Moving to New Home Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson and family are in the process of moving into the home they purchased which was owned by Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Sperry. Mr. and Mrs. W. Lee Thompson will visit their grandson Jim Didericksen and his wife and family in Centerville Wednesday afterwhich they will spend Christmas Eve with their and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Didericksen and family in Grantsville. They will remain overnight and enjoy Cristmas dinner at the Didericksen home. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Didericksen and family will accompany them back and attend a dinner party at the home of Mrs. Lula Didericksen son-in-la- w dinner son-in-la- in Thatcher Christinas evening. An open house was held at Bowcutt Reception center in Tremonton Friday evening son-in-la- hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Glade Timothy for Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Janeen Brown) Timothy who were married in the Salt Lake temple Dec. 13. Visitors at the Timothy home for the weekend who came especially to attend the open house were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Holt and children Kristy and Brian of St. Goerge, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Timothy and son Dell of Ely, Mr. and Mrs. Max Flinders and son Lane of Ogden. Dinner Party Enjoying a Christmas Eve dinner party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. Rex Jensen will be Miss De Ann Jensen of Pocatello, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Jensen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Jensen of Logan, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jensen and family of Garland. Santa will be on hand with gifts for the entire group. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Thomas spent Sunday in Bountiful visiting Mrs. Thomas mother Mrs. Eva Burns. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Jensen attended an open house at the lovely new home of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Jensen and family in Bountiful Saturday. About 50 relatives and close friends attended the house warming. Spending Christmas Eve with Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ashby and family will be Mr. and Mrs. Tony Anderson and family who have been living in Tucson and who are now planning to make their home in this area, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bair and family of Clinton. The Garland Birthday club held their Christmas party at ged. Mr. and Mrs. Reid Nielsen of Portage spent Saturday evening visiting Mrs. Nan Bowcutt. Attend Program Mrs. Zina Marriott accom- - with their partners last Friday evening at the ward cultural hall. The group enjoyed games and exchanging gifts following the lovely dinner. Each ward enjoyed special Christmas programs this past Sunday with the ward choirs singing beautiful Christmas music. In the Perry First Ward, Elaine Jenks spoke prior to her entering the mission home on the third of January. Elaine has been called to an LDS mission to Argentina. A family Christmas party was held at the Max Nelson home on Monday evening. Twenty-fou- r family members gathered for supper and exchanging gifts. Those attending were Darrell and Grace Nelson, Mike, Rod, and Melaine; Don and Myrna Ellis; Deraid and Julia Waters, Lisa, Pam and Raquel, all of Brigham City. Tom and Renee Bailey, Jim, Howard, John and T.J. all of Corinne and Max, Lois, Reese, Kelly, Carolyn, and Peggy of Perry. The Perry First Ward Aaronic Priesthood and Young ladies group held a Christmas dance last Tuesday evening. Spending the Christmas holi- days visiting Mr. and Mrs. Frank Elmer will be their and daughter Mr. and Ms. Everett Johnson and four son-in-la- children of Bountiful. Mrs. Esther Clough will leave Dec. 26 for a Brigham Young university tour of the Holy Lands. Also in the group is Mrs. Vesta Davis of Ogden, formerly of Riverside. Mrs. Nan Bowcutt entertained at a party at her home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Jay Bowcutt and two daughters of Logan, Mrs. Spencer Archibald and family of Brigham City, Mr. and Mrs. Richard White and family of Twin Falls. A delicious dinner was enjoyed. Later Mr. and Mrs. Richard White and family also enjoyed a dinner party at the "'me of Mrs. Faye White in Tremonton. .1, fdrs. Essie Peterson and Mrs. Zina Marriott spent Saturday at the Museum Gallery in Brigham City. Attending the viewing for David Allen at the Olsen Funeral chapel in Brigham City Friday evening were Mr. and Mrs. George Hales and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hales. The Pinochle club held their Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Kitty Minson Thursday evening. Special guests were Mrs. Mazona (Dutch) Morgan of Ogden, Mrs. Carol Reiva of Roy, Mrs. Ruth Foxley of Tremonton, Mrs. Dona Bowcutt and Mrs. Pam Burton of Garland. A lovely luncheon was served and gifts exchanged. Pinochle was played with prizes going to Mrs. Annie Thompson, Mrs. Madge Homer and Mrs. Dona Bowcutt. A Christmas Eve party will be held at the home of Mrs. Kitty Minson. Attending will be Mr. and Mrs, Marvin Hyer and three children of Sandy, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Anderson and four children of Brigham City, Mrs. Martin Reiva and four children and one grandchild of Roy, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Burton and three children, Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Westmoreland and three children of Garland, Mrs. Terry Westmoreland and two children of Plymouth, Mrs. Queenie Carr of Garland. A smorgasbord will be enjoyed. Santa will make his appearance with treats for the small fry. Some of those Ive talked to and see are now at home are: Barry Reeder and Bruce Christensen from Ricks college in Idaho. Mary and Susan Valcarce and Diane Reeder are home from Weber and Wendy Barnard is home from USU in Logan. Some very exciting news was received at the Norm Nelson home last week when Norm received word that he had been reassigned to Hill Field and now they will not have to leave following the holidays. They are very anxious to set up their home in Perry again. The only sad thing in the news is the fact that Mrs. Doris Nelson will soon be leaving Perry to make her home in Brigham City again. Ron and Loretta Smith have received word that they will soon have their new little son home with them, possibly before the week is out. He was born Dec. 3, at the hospital in Brigham City, very prematurely. He was then taken to the University of Utah medical center and has undergone surgery. But the good news is that he is soon to be home and older brothers Bart and Benson will be very anxious to meet their new brother, Greg. Another new arrival this month to Perry is the infant son of John and Donna McCoy. He was born on Dec. 2 in Brigham City and is the first child for the McCoys. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Norman McCoy of Perry. TEN YEARS AGO December 1965 Sunday afternoon Darrell Nelson and Curtis Johnson took their Sunday school classes on a field trip to visit historical spots in Brigham City. Among them were President Lorenzo Snows grave, Baron Woolen Mills and the Third Ward meeting house. Dec. 20, Rodney Walker and Corinne Larsen were married in the Perry Ward and were honored at a reception in the ward cultural hall following. Rodney is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Walker of Perry and Corinne is the daughter of Wallace Larsen and Colleen Larsen of Salt Lake. Home to spend the holidays in Utah are JoAnn and Deloy Nielsen and twin daughters of Glendale, Calif. They will visit between the home of JoAnns parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sebek of Perry and Deloys parents in Ogden. We are glad to hear that Mrs. Vera Larsen is now at home and recovering so well following her surgery last week at the McKay hospital in Ogden. mm w Jan Reeder exchanged wedding vows in the Ogden LDS Temple.
