Show r erary club met with Mrs. Garland Gazette City council, officials hold Christmas party by Flo Munson The Garland City council and partners along with the city clerk, the city treasurer, the new city council members who will take office in January (and their partners) plus special guests held their Christmas party at the Garland cafe Tues- day evening. Attending were Mayor and Mrs. George Hales, Mr, and Mrs. David Manning, tyr. and Mrs. Boyd Munns, Mr. and Ms. Ken Orme, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Griffin, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Coombs, Mrs. Fern Huish, Mrs. Hazel Rose, Mr. and Mrs. Thad Poulter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wood, (Mrs. Ruth Shumway was unable to attend) Mr. and Mrs. Mark Spence and Mr. and Mrs. Ray York. A delicious dinner was enjoyed. Later the group retired to the Garland library for their regular city council meeting. Faculty members and their partners of the Garland Elementary school held their Christmas party at Chases Charcoal House in Tremonton Tuesday evening. A lovely dinner was enjoyed. Lion President Charles J. Wood was in charge of the evenings entertainment. Dr. LeRoy Jorgenson of the Institute of Religion at Utah State University in Logan was the guest speaker and gave an interesting discussion on Russia which included colored slides. A delicious meal was enjoyed. The Garland Bridge club was graciously entertained at the home of Mrs. LaVona Carter Friday afternoon. It was their Christmas party. A dainty luncheon was enjoyed. Gifts were exchanged. Bridge was played with prizes going to Mrs. Lena Hall, Mrs. Florence Gam and Mrs. Dessie Campbell. Spending the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. O.C. Davis was Mrs. Davis sister Mrs. Margaret Fry of Salt Lake City. Friday evening the two ladies attended a wedding reception at the Legion hall in Malad honoring Mr. and Mrs. Dave Brown Jean Mecham and Mrs. CharGeorge Hales attended a Golden Wedding reception for Mr. and lotte Reeder. The Bear River Chapter of Utah Young Homemakers held their Christmas party at the Bear River High school Saturday evening along with their partners. President Mrs. Tess Hess conducted a short business meeting prior to the lesson presentation. Mrs. Colleen Richards was in charge of the program. She introduced Dr. Val Christensen of Utah State university who gave an interesting and informative discussion on Having A Better Marriage. He was accompanied by his wife. A delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings was enjoyed. The tables were attractively decorated with a Christmas theme. The entire group participated in singing carols. Mrs. Gunderson is a sister of Mrs. Gardner and Mrs. Smith and is recuperating following surgery.
