Show 3 32 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Tremonton Tales Thursday, December 18, 1975 ) IPGdogdq Buzzing Bear River twirler performs at 49er football contest BRC by Senneth Hawkes Tammy Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schmidt, has recently returned from a four-da- y trip to San Francisco where she performed at a San Francisco 49ers football game on Dec. 7. She was one of 91 girls chosen to participat in twirling events at the game and the only one from Box Elder county. They twirled batons and flags and did some drill routines during the half time, and post game shows. It was shown on national T.V., but to the disappointment of her family and friends, it was not shown in this area. She reports they had a very wonderful time. They left Salt Lake City by air and on arrival in San Francisco they had a bus tour of the city. After lunch on Friday they spent the time practicing and on Saturday the girls performed at San Francisco Marine Land and had time for shopping, sightseeing and a side trip to China town. One of the most exciting events of their trip was to ride on Bart system subway train which travels 200 feet under the ocean floor at 100 miles per hour. They arrived home Monday night tired but ready to begin practice for a Weber State college basketball game in January. Christmas Party The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers held their Christmas party at the home of Lela Anderson. The ladies enjoyed a lunch, then a lovely pot-luc- k session of singing Christmas carols. Two special Christmas stories were read by guest Senneth Hawkes after which the ladies exchanged gifts. The meeting was conducted by Phyllis B. Holmgren with the prayer by Gertrude Jensen. Twenty-thre- e ladies were able to be at the party. Mrs. Erma Rock has arrived home after an extended visit to her son DeVeres home in Torrance, Calif. Thursday night Mrs. Rock was guest of honor at a birthday party at her home. Those who joined in the best wishes were Mrs. Alta Moore of Ogden, Bertha Wankier, Mr. and Mrs. Con Hansen, Dean and Betty Peterson and daughter Cheryl of Clearfield and Richard Misrasi of Tremonton. Has Banquet Box Elder county school district held their Christmas banquet on Thursday night at the Maddox cafe in Brigham City.' Mario Checketts and Clyde Armstrong were in charge of the affair. They had supper and social visiting. Fae Ann and Jim Karo and twins of Ogden spent the afternoon at the home of their parents Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Huggins on Sunday. Open house was held at church Sunday afternoon for the outgoing bishopric. Many ward members came to give the group a hearty vote of thanks for their endeavors over the last few years. Cookies and punch were donated by ladies in the ward. The Roger Dallin family were at a posse party Saturday night at the Crystal Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Anderson and three children of Lava Hot Springs spent Sunday afternoon and had dinner with the Kenneth Pasketts. Tony and Sam Milhouse of Casper, Wyo. announced the arrival of a baby girl Dec. 2. She is the daughter of Beth and Mac Christensen. Beth left by bus to spend some time with the new parents. Baby Boy Venna and Ron Howard of Perry are the parents of a new baby boy born Dec. 3. Venna and the two little boys are going to spend a few days with her parents Helen and Delwin Hansen. This new arrival makes five grandsons for the Hansens. Last Monday night Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Jeppson and children David and Tanya spent a very lovely family home plan now for evening with Mrs. Florence Gardner. Mr. and Mrs. James Smith of Tremonton were hosts at the party for the World War I veterans, their wives and widows Wednesday afternoon at their home. Mary Anderson was the only one from Bear River City. The Venture Scouts had a spaghetti supper at the cultural hall Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Hawkes were in Ogden over the weekend shopping and visiting with the Ray Nessen family. Betty and Pete Misrasi spent a few hours with Mr. and Mrs. LaMarr Iverson on Sunday. Richard Misrasi and Cheryl Peterson also called on the LaMar Iversons. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Anderson and Paul Holmgren joined a busload of Utah beet growers to attend the Beet Growers convention in Las Vegas. They stayed from Dec. 9 to 12. They attended meetings, banquets, shopped a little and of course took in some shows. They had a great time on the bus ride. Scott Anderson stayed with Brian and Sheryl while Blaine and Thora were gone. Chicken Pox ago last Sunday, Blaine and Thora drove to Malta, Idaho to attend services there to have their grandson blessed, but when they got there the little one month old baby had the chicken pox as did his other four brothers and sisters. Thora now reports they are alright and back in school. The sad family was Linda and Newell Norman. Mrs. Arvilla Holmgren attended the Parade of Homes in Brigham City last Saturday. Special guests were Wally Corbin, division operators manager of Phoenix, Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Cannon of Delta and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Waldron. A delicious dinner was ser- ved. A Old Tremonton. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Anderson and family are planning to move to Utah to make their home. The Tremonton Literary guild met with Beverly Edvalson as hostess for their annual Christmas party. Irene Morris read entertaining Christmas stories. refreshments were Light served. Gifts were exchanged. The Tremonton Bridge club met with Mrs. Maxiene Quinney as hostess Friday evening. Guests were Mrs. Ulalla Hansen and Mrs. Vera Westergard. Prizes went to Mrs. Westergard and Mrs. Mary Nelson. Gifts were exchanged. program featuring the Time Fiddlers was en- joyed. Wally Corbin presented Grant Callister with a service award. He also presented Mary n with an award for top rating for the Rocky Mountain division. The Lions club members Jield their annual Christmas party with their partners at Bowcutt Reception center Wednesday evening. Ralph Kotter, Lions club president was in charge. Chairman for the evenings en tertainment were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Sandall, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Callister and Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Harris. Following a Old Time lovely dinner with Fidders presented a program. Each lady was presented with a small attractive gift. The Annual Party Tremonton-Garlan- d Lit- erary club met at the home of Mrs. Inez Brown with Mrs. Fern Huish and Mrs. Cora Nielson as for their annual Christmas party. Mrs. Faunice Laub read some Christmas stories. A lovely dinner was enjoyed. Gifts were exchanged. Mr. and Mrs. George Sato are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Tony Anderson and family in Tucson. The Andersons are proud parents of a baby boy born Dec. 5. The new baby will be named Matthew. They have a small son Jeremiah. Other grandparents in addition to Mr. and Mrs. George Sato are Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ashby of Garland. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ashby of Fielding, Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Ravsten of Logan, Mr. and Mrs. Vernal C. Montgomery of Slmada Entertained The Simada club were grac- iously entertained at the home of Mrs. Phyllis Markham Tuesday evening. Kathryne Nesson conducted a short business meeting. Mrs. Vernell Morrison gave a lesson entitled The Beginning of a Nation. Mrs. Dottie Whitney gave a lesson War In the South. A dainty light luncheon was served. Miss Janine Oyler is spending the holidays visiting her brother and sister-in-laMr. and Mrs. John Oyler in Altadena, Calif. The Relief society of the First ward held its Christmas dinner party immediately following their regular lesson Tuesday. A program followed. Mrs. Roberta Fronk, president, presided. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Harris attended a beet growers convention in Las Vegas last week. Other attending from this area were Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Firth of Bothwell and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Nelson of Elwood. Mrs. Henry Mendoza and daughters Diane, Lori and Kathie have arrived from North Hollywood to spend the holidays visiting Mrs. Mendozas parents Mr. and Mrs. Con hansen. Hen ry Mendoza will join them for Christmas. Monday Mrs. Ulalla Hansen and Mrs. Mary Mendoza spent the day in Logan. Ray Finch is receiving medical care in the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City following major surgery. His daughter Kay Udy remained near him from Tuesday through Saturday. Medical Care Mrs. Jed (Beverly) Abbott is receiving medical care in the McKay hospital in Ogden.' Mr. and Mrs. Clifford John spent Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Brian John in Ogden. Spending the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Garland Puz-e- y were their grandchildren Robert and Ann Puzey of Ogden. Miss Denise Potter returned home Wednesday after attendConvention in ing a National Chicago. She visited her friend Teri Lyn Bridges in Mount Pleasant, Mich. She was delayed on account of the airline strike and remained four days longer than she had originally 4-- planned on before returning home by American airlines. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Potter and family were Mr. and Mrs. Karl Benson of Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Taylor and son John visited in Salt Lake City Monday. Deepest sympathy is extended to Duane Deakin and his lovely family in the loss of their wife and mother, Mrs. Florence Roberts Deakin. To know Florence was to love and admire her for her many outstanding qualities. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The VGF club met with Mrs. Pheobe Henrie as hostess for their Christmas party Monday evening. Special guests were Mrs. Faye Murphy of Ogden, Mrs. Fanny Fridal, Mrs. Marie Rhodes and Mrs. Lucille Robbins. A 'delicious dinner was served afterwhich the evening was spent doing handiwork and were enjoying a social. Gifts exchanged. Mrs. JoAnn Garrett, Mrs. Paula Sant and baby of Salt Lake City spent Thursday visiting Dr. and Mrs. D.B. Green. Present Program Mrs. Grace Hales and her family presented the program in the Fourth Ward Sunday evening. Dr. Thayne Hales of Pleasant View and Mrs. Grace Hales gave interesting talks, Cheryl Rose and Deanna Allen sang a duet. They were accompanied by Celia Bennett at the piano. Jim Burt of Ogden played a beautiful medley of Christmas hymns on the organ. Following the meetings Mrs. Grace Hales had her immediate family along with Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hales and Mayor and Mrs. George Hales for light refreshments at her home. Mrs. Elva Korth attended Sacrament meeting in the Fourth ward where the small daughter of Nile and Moanna Korth Boyle was blessed and given the name of Marci Jo Boyle.
