I Couple leaves for Maryland by Flo Munson Mr. and Mrs. V.W. Johns left the Salt Lake airport Saturday by plane for College Park, Md., to visit Mrs. Johns brother and sister-in-laDr. and Mrs. Max Beal. Dr. Beal is reported to be seriously ill. The Stage Coach Camp of : DUP met at the home of Mrs. . Pearl Grover Thursday after- - noon. Captain Essie Peterson conducted a short business meeting. Mrs. Orpha Oyler T gave the lesson The Story of BYU and Its Presidents. Mrs. Letitia Sorenson read a history of her great grandmother Julie Ann Gibbs. Light refreshments were served. The next meeting will be the Christmas party with Mrs. Mabel Hansen as hostess. It will be held at the senior center in Tremonton Dec. 11. Wednesday Mrs. Essie Peterson spent the day visiting her daughter Mrs. Yvonne Cole in Sunset. With the assistance from friends they succeeded in tying two lovely quilts. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Allred and daughter Tamra, Mrs. Roselin Draper attended funeral services in the Meyers mortuary in Ogden Friday for Vern Allred. Vern was a former resident of Garland. He was the brother of d Mrs. Ervin Jensen, LeRoy and Mrs. Roselin Draper. Saturday Mrs. Hazel Rose visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jess Buttars in Logan. All-re- Visits Mother Mrs. Norma Thomas spent Sunday and Monday visiting her mother Mrs. Eva Burns in Farmington. She was accompanied by Mrs. Hazel Rose who visited her sister Mrs. Maurice Blau in Roy. Bruce Thompson of Whittier, Calif., visited his aunt Mrs. Jennie Gephart Sunday. Mrs. Gephart accompanied him to Brigham City where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Delose Thompson. F-Terry R. Davis who has been serving with the US Navy in Manila has been spending the past two weeks visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Davis and family and other relatives in this area. Friday he will leave for San Diego where he will be stationed for the next eight months. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. O.C. Davis Thursday was Matt Davis of Ogden. Congratulations goes to R. Lee Allen who was sustained as bishop of the East Garland Ward in Sacrament meeting Sunday evening. His counselors are Steve Grover and Larry Petersen. Sustained as clerks are Don Anderson, Robert Meyer and Richard Rampton. Released were Kenneth Shaffer who has been serving as bishop, Robert Kirby and Mer-ly- n King as counselors and Wayne Grover, Blaine Rhodes and LeRoy Atkinson as clerks. Steve Grover was released as group leader of the High Priests and LeRoy Atkinson sustained to take his place. Entertained The Pinochle club was graciously entertained at the home of Mrs. Phyllis Wood Thursday evening. Guests included Pamela Lafieur of Boise and Mrs. Dona Bowcutt. Prizes went to Mrs. Kitty Minson, Mrs. Pamela Lafieur and Mrs. Madge Homer. A dainty dessert was served. Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Wester-gar- d spent Friday and Saturday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Brent Westergard in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Venna Hess accompanied by her daughter Mrs. Margaret Perry of Deweyville spent Monday in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Marvin Ashby and family visited Mrs. Ashbys parents Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Ravsten in Logan Sunday evening. A party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bishop recently honoring Mrs. Lucetta Thompson on her 92nd birthday anniversary. It also honored Mrs. Melba Wassom of Bountiful, DeLos Thompson of Brigham who were also celebrating birthday anniversaries. A pot luck dinner was enjoyed. Among those attending in addition to those observing birthday anniversaries were Mrs. Barbara Olsen and daughter Julie of Logan, Mrs. Blanche Hansen of Ogden, Mrs. Gaye Pinnock and daughter Debbie and her daughter of Layton, Mrs. Lola Ruth Anderson and daughter Ruth Ann of Thatcher, Mrs. Kathy Shaffer and daughter Nikki of Weston, Mrs. DeLos Thompson and granddaughters Lori and Annette of Brigham City, Sandra Bishop of Farmington, Helen Barrett and daughter of Hyde Park, Mrs. Laura Kunz of Bern, Idaho. Mrs. Thompson is in poor health at this time. She will be remembered as a member of the Singing Mothers and a member of the choir for many years. William Merrill took his group of Scouts from Garland Second Ward on a camping trip to Cold Water Canyon Friday and Saturday. , Were Guests Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brown as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell G: Stallings of Eden enjoyed a dinner party at the Bluebird restaurant in Logan Friday. Hodge during the past week were Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hodge and son Chris, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Hodge and Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Hodge of Roy, Mr. and Mrs. Udell Hodge of Ogden. Spending Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Russell Rogers were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Price and three of their grandchildren of Ogden. West High was victorious. The Piersons were overnight guests at the Woodruff home. Estep spent Wednesday in Logan visiting Mrs. Esteps mother Mrs. Clara Hoskins.
