JUST PRACTICING Cake auction Open house set to observe Cub Pack 322 schedules womans birthday Blue and Gold dinner Blue and Gold banquet time for Cub Pack 322 brings a special sparkle to the eyes of Cubs and Webelos, for they know it is also time for the annual cake decorating contest and cake auction. This years event is slated for Friday, Feb. 28, at the Community Center and each Cub Den and the Webelos group has made decorations and name cards for their tables in anticipation of the dinner. Following the potluck dinner, it is time for the fathers to participate by decorating iced cakes donated by mothers in advance of the event. With colored frosting provided in tubes, the fathers have proved to be real masters at cake decorating and have produced a number of pretty creations in so the boys are all the past ready for another year of fun. Auction time is fun, too, for the boys. Some parents develop pained looks as their boys bid on the cakes since the money comes . from the parents pockets in most cases. But it is all for a good cause, for the funds collected help to finance the activities of the Cub Scouts and Webelos dens which are sponsored by Holy Cross with church Lutheran cooperation from other and Catholic churches in the community, according to a Pack 322 spokesman. Cubs in the pack meet weekly in the homes of their den mothers, with the Webelos meeting in fellowship hall of the Presbyterian church, and the pack meetings held monthly at St. Henrys Catholic church Por-testa- nt recreation hall. The Cub Pack channels boys into Boy Scout Troop 322 sponsored by the Holy Cross Lutheran church and Boy Scout Troop 185 sponsored by the Presbyterian church. Committee chairman is Bob Lavery, with Gus Kilstadius as secretary, and Hal Whitehead as cubmaster. There is always room for new boys and volunteer adult leadership in the program, and persons in- terested in getting their boys into the pack are invited to call any of the committee members.
