Show 20 Mantua Meanderings Brigham Ciry, Utah BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Thursday, September 1 9, 1 974 Perry Pulse plans bake and rummage sale to raise funds to buy piano PTA by Mrs. Max Nelson Final plans are being made for a good old fashioned Rummage sale and bake sale to be sponsored by the Perry PTA. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27 and 28 at the Perry school multipurpose room the items will be on sale to the public. Friday evening the time is from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. This next week as youre doing your fall house cleaning and you have any items, personal, toyas, clothing, furniture or appliances, anything that youre tired of and yet someone else might make use of bring it on down to the school on Friday afternoon by four p.m. If you have appliances or furniture that is still in good condition let the PTA sell it for you and they will give you back one half of the money from this item. This is a way of getting rid of those items just taking up space and making a little money on the side. If you have items and are not able to get them to the school on Friday, Sept. 27 you can call chairman, Mrs. Judy Bylsma at 723-503- All proceeds from this sale will go towards the purchase of a new piano for the school. The officers of the PTA encourage and invite everyone in the area to come out and join in the fun. Hold Back to School Next Thursday evening, Riverside Register DUP has season's 1st meet Munson Camp of DUP meeting of the home of Mrs. Esther Coombs Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Myrle Udy as Captain Louise Harper conducted the meeting. Mrs. Edna Hyer gave an interesting lesson The Year of 1874. Mrs. Louise Harper read a pioneer history. Special guests were Mrs. Mabel Hansen of Fielding, Mrs. Doris Lamb of Plymouth, Mrs. R. J. Potter and Mrs. Audrey Butler of Garland. Light refreshments were by Flo The Garland held their first season at the served. Visiting Mrs. Myrle Udy Thursday evening were her Mr. brother and and Mrs. Earl Young of Perry and Mrs. Oleen Udy and son sister-in-la- Dennis of Brigham City. Friday visitors at the home of Mrs. Esther Coombs were Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Griffiths of ElMont, Calif., Mrs. Jack Lundtren of Salt Lake City. Visiting Mrs. Esther Coombs Saturday were her brother-in-laand sister Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Griffiths of Tooele. Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Bourne attended Sacrament meeting in Ogden where their grandson Elder Michael Bourne reported on his LDS Mission spent in France. Friday Dwayne Bourne and Michael visited at the G. L. Bourne home. See Fair September 26 the Perry elementary school will hold their Back to School Night. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the e room a general business meeting will be held. Following this meeting the parents will have the opportunity to have informal visits with their students teacher. Also during the evening anyone who has not taken the opportunity to join the Perry PTA will have the chance to do so. Membership and participation in PTA is encouraged for all parents. This is one way to find out just what is happening at our schools. chairman, Mrs. Rowena Bodily would like all parents of children ages three and four to contact her at so a complete list of children of those ages can be made up. Brigham City Tabernacle, so lets all plan now to be in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. William Emery are delighted over the news of their first grandchild born to their daughter and Steve and Anna Marie Elgan of Brigham City. Making her arrival, Thursday, Sept. 12 at 10:50 a.m. she weighed eight pounds 132 ounces and was 20 inches long. They have chosen for her the name of Angela Melita. multi-purpos- Pre-scho- 734-931- 7 ' A new New Program program is being for the children of this age group. It is a program of organized activities to help familiarize them with school routine. If you have a child this age or know of someone in the community who would but would not know of this by another means let Mrs. Bodily know so her list can be complete. Angie Maddox celebrated her fourth birthday on Saturday with a party for her little neighborhood friends. The children enjoyed traditional birthday games and a special lunchecon. After Angie opened her birthday gifts she presented each of her guests with a small present. Those attending were Scott Adams, Bridget Tomlinson, Kristi Nelson, Christine Birch, Lisa and John Maddox, and Melvin Tingey. Angie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Maddox. The members of the Perry ward and Perry second ward are bubbling over with enthusiasm in anticipation of getting the new chapel completed. Everyone is getting involved in the fund raising projects to collect the funds for this new chapel. I was told of a small ten year-ol- d girl who held a real fund carnival on Saturday with the proceeds going to the building fund. The neighborhood children enjoyed a bean bag toss, spook alley, and cup cake walk. Opening social held for Relief Society by Carol Southern The Relief Socity held its opening social this past Wednesday night. Randa Wilson gave the lesson on nutrition. The lesson was followed by a program put on by Karen Hallings sister, Marilyn Miller. After the program was a kitchen shower to equip the new kitchen. Many nice things were received and greatly Paul Ferry celebrated his third birthday on Sept. 6 with a party with some of his friends. Attending were Tyler Carr, Eileen Rasmussen, Jenifer and Aimee Wilson, Amy and Dawn Molgard, and Shelly and Mike Naylor. Refreshments were cupcakes and punch. A favorite gift received was a toy horse but Dionne says the most treasured gift was a new toothbrush. Rumor has it that. Paul carries it in his Docket! Paul Sheehan has recently been in the VA Hospital in Salt Lake with eye surgery. He is doing fine and we hope he will be as good as new soon. Also from the Sheehan household is news that Paula is now in Spokane, Wash, for Campus Crusade for Christ Leadership Training. Coleen Sheehan Rampton graduated from Utah State with a teaching degree in Art. Mother Visits Visiting at the home of Alan and Margret Cooper this week are Margrets mother, Mrs. L.E. Marshall, Margrets two sisters, Beverly Marshall and Mrs. Jerri Swann and her two children, Jennifer and Derick. The visitors are from Oklahoma City, Okla. and Watonga, Okla. .They are taking in our beautiful Utah scenery and some shopping before returning home at the end of the week. Rita Nelson and two of her sisters, Eva Thorson and Isabel Stuart spent Saturday evening in Smithfield for dinner at the Jupiter Inn. Mike and Susan McDonald entertained Mikes mother, Mrs. J.W. Medford, from Wichita Falls, Tex. last week. Attend Shower miscellaneous shower was given for Vicki Christiansen by Karen Jensen and Kathy Hansen. It was held Friday night at Kathy's home in Brigham City. Attending the shower was Kitty Carr and her daughters, Bunny, Heidi and Shalain and June Higley and daughter Julie. Dion Richards recently flew to Jacksonville, Fla. to her sisters, Mrs. Donald Trujillo. They visited Disneyworld and Sea World after which Dion A son-in-la- Shes the First Angela Melita is especially special in the fact that not only is she the first daughter and first grandchild, she is also the first greatgrandchild on both sides of the Emery family. We were sorry to hear that Tillie Emery has spent the past five weeks in the Holy Cross hospital in Salt Lake. We hope she will be home by now and is feeling better. Im sure she is very anxious to get home and become acquainted with her new granddaughter. Visiting at the home of Mrs. Carolyn Sybrowsky and family is her mother, Mrs. Goldsberry from Portland, Ore. She will remain until after the baby comes to enjoy getting to know her grandchildren. Our sincerest sympathy is extended to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Loudell Reese at this time. Loudells father passed away last Wednesday. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Royal Petersen this past week were Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Reese and family of Las Vegas, Nev. They were home to attend the funeral of J.D.'s father. We were sorry to hear that Little !33$ci0 sumo!. Jim and Jane Hillier are making plans to move from Perry. Jim has accepted employment in St. Charles and they will be leaving the end of this month. We hate to see them leave. Two young men from Perry received top honors at the State Fair in the Prize Rabbit division. Rabbits Win John Brown, 11, entered four Flemish Giant Rabbits and came home with three first place ribbons, two second, one third, and one fourth. Todd Brown, age eight, entered two Checker Giant rabbits and took a second place. The boys are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brown. The Bookmobile is now in Perry on its fall schedule. Today is his regular scheduled day. He is at the A&W Rootbear stand in the mornings. He arrives at the Perry school at 10:30 a.m. for the school children and those living close to the school. He is then at the lower road in front of Aaron Snows from about two until 4:30 p.m. Then he spends some time on the hill in front of the Dale Johnston home. We are really fortunate to have the bookmobile in our area and really appreciate the efforts of Mr. Day. Musical Production And the adults not to be out done, are beginning practices for the musical production that is coming up. The two ward choirs are practicing every Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. under the direction of Mrs. Lynn Maddox. She would like to extend an invitation to anyone who is interested in joining this choir that its not to late to begin, just come to the practice on Sunday afternoon. The musical will be a joint effort by the two wards under the direction of Mrs. Maddox. The It will be entitled Miracles of Three Mile Creek and will depict the early settlement of what is now known as The popular chains which everybody knows. Where everybody goes. Most phases of the production are getting under way and it should be an outstanding evening of entertainment for everyone. It will be held Nov. 8 in the DAY. SEPTEMBER 24 Mr. and Mrs. Delose Udy spent Monday through Wednesday in Salt Lake City where they attended the State Fair and Ice Follies. They also visited Allen who is receiving medical care in the Holy Cross hospital. Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Forsberg, Mrs. Opal Forsberg, Mr. and Mrs. John Clarence Forsberg ac- companied by Mr. and Mrs. Gus Forsberg and Farrel Forsberg, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Peterson of Garland met with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bowcutt and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bowcutt and Dari Bowcutt for breakfast at Bear lake. They spent the day fishing and boating and in the afternoon enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner. Sunday Mrs. Opal Forsberg accompanied by Mrs. Wilma Clark of Tremonton enjoyed a luncheon in Malad. Visiting Mrs. Mina Ward during the week were Mr. and Mrs. Ross Shirley of Rexburg. Sunday visitors at the home of Mrs. Mina Ward were Mr. and Mrs. Marian Moore of Boise, Mrs. Violet Booth of Nampa, of Mrs. Kelsey Daisy Milwaukee. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hadfield. Utah Members FD 1C went to Jasper, Ala. to meet her parents. Her parents, Clyde and Ester Merley were released from their mission in Jasper. Dion and parents visited Nauvoo, 111. and met several people in Nauvoo serving missions there. On their way home they also visited Carthage Jail in Illinois. They came through Vernal and visited with Dion's brothers in Tridell. Mr. and Mrs. Merley stayed with Dion for two days and returned to Tridell. |
