Defense depot plans Aug. 7 ceremony 1 A groundbreaking ceremony for the new 600 man armory for use by the 6th Battalion, 83rd Artillary (155 Towed), is planned on August 17, at 10 a.m. at the Northwest end of Defense Depot Ogden at the intersection of the Harrisville and 1200 West roads. Lieutenant Colonel Jack Y. McLea, Commanding Officer of the Battalion will conduct te activities. Special guests invited include LTG E. B. Roberts, Commanding General 6th U. S. Army; MG SS Ryser, Commanding General 96th ARCOM; Captain A. S. Maurstad, SC, Officer USN, Commanding Defense Depot Ogden; Senator Frank Moss; Congressman Gunn McKay; Mayor Stephen Dirks of Ogden; and Colonel Robert L. West (Ret) former Commander of the 5th Hos. Bn., 21st Arty (155 Towed). Former Officers All former Commanding officers of the Battalion have been asked to participate including LTC Robert J. Junk who was the first commander when the Battalion was activated in Ogden; LTC Shirl K. Fadel; Col. Peter Alex; LTC Clair E. Frischknect. Also to attend will be former members CWO Frank J. McCormick and SGM Robert Scott. The 1.5 million dollar Armory has been in the planning stage for three years. It is being constructed on an 8.8 acre parcel of Sale 319 to Reg. 3 to 1 500. Road ride planned by cycle association Cycle enthusiasts are invited to join the Brigham City Cycle association in a motorcycle Fire A fire was reported on Aug. 13 at the Box Elder and Weber lines. The Brigham City fire department was requested. Attempted theft Mrs. Robert Richards, 549 South 200 East, reported that there was an attempted theft of road ride. The ride will be held Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. All interesteed motorcyclists are invited to assemble at Rees Pioneer Park at 1:30 p.m. The ride will include a tour of Monte Cristo and Logan Canyon. This is the first event planned by the association especially for the street rider. Anyone may participate as long as they ride a street legal motorcycle and wear a helmet.
