Show Portage Pennings notice of intention NOTICE IS PUBUC HEREBY GIVEN that on the 6th day of June, 1974, the Mayor and City Council of Brigham City, Box Elder County, Utah, passed and adopted a resolution declaring the intention of creating in said City, Special Improvement District Number 17 of Brigham City, Box Elder County, Utah. is notice further Council of given by the City its Brigham City, Utah, tention to make the hereinafter of in- described improvements within the said Special Improvement District and of the further intention of said Council to levy assessments as provided by the Laws of Utah on the property lying within said District benefited by the making of such improvements. The improvements are to consist of necessary grading and constructing or recon-- ' structing curbs, gutters, street paving, appurtenant drainage facilities, driveways, waterways, drainage piping, water service lines, sewer service laterals, inlet structures, corner intersections, and other appurtenant works, and to remove trees and other improvements and to excavate, fill, grade, drain, and do all work other miscellaneous necessary to complete the improvements in a proper workmanlike manner. The names of the streets and parts thereof to be thus improved are as follows: 500 East Street from 400 North Street to 600 North Street 400 East Street from 300 North Street to 400 North Street 300 East Street from 500 North Street to 600 North Street and from 100 North Street to 200 North Street 600 North Street from 600 East Street to Maip Street Harmony Place 600 North Street from 500 West Street to West End of Campbell Subdivision said streets the paving width shall be thirty-fiv- e feet from lip of gutter to lip of gutter on all East-Wes- t streets and fifty-fiv- e feet from lip of gutter On to lip of gutter on North-Sout- h streets, except as follows: Sixth North from 500 West to the West end of Campbell Subdivision, the paving to be approximately 10.0 feet wide for the south side only. Harmony Place to be paved from lip of gutter to lip of gutter being 35 feet wide at Sixth North and expanding to include the complete 300 East from 100 North to 200 North and from 500 North to 600 North, paving to be 17.5 feet on each side and overlay to be twenty feet wide. Curb and gutter shall be installed on both sides of all streets upon which improvements are to be made, except as follows: Where these improvements presently exist, they shall be incorporated in the project or removed and replaced at the Citys expense. and pipe Irrigation corresponding outlet structures are to be installed on tne following streets except where these improvements presently exist: 400 East Street from 300 North Street to 400 North Street 500 East Street from 400 North Street to 500 North Street 300 East Street from 100 North Street to 200 North Street c. Concrete driveways ex- tending not more than five feet from the back of the curb together with round curb approaches will be constructed at the expense and at the option of the individual owners benefited. All improvements to complete the project in proper and workmanlike manner will be constructed according to the plans, profiles, and specifications on file in the office of the City Engineer. In general, all curb and gutter shall be standard concrete combination curb and gutter approximately thirty (30) inches wide. In general, all plant mixed bituminous paving shall be approximately two and one-hainches of bituminous paving on approximately a four (4) inch thick gravel base and extend from gutter to gutter. The herein described improvements shall be called SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NUMBER 17, the boundaries of which are as lf (1-i- j) follows: Commencing at the intersection of 700 North Street and 600 East Street and running South along the centerline of 600 East Street to the South line of 100 North Street; thence West along the South line of 100 North Street to the center line of Main Street; thence North along the center line of Main Street to the center line of 700 North Street; thence East along the center line of 700 North Street to 600 East Street, the place of beginning. Also beginning at the centerline of Fifth West and Sixth North, thence South 123.0 feet on the center line of Fifth West to the of projection of the South line Lot 4, Campbell Subdivision; thence West along said South line 159.76 feet; thence South 240.07 feet to the Southeast corner of Lot 8 of Campbell Subdivision; thence West 405.70 feet to the Southwest corner of Campbell Subdivision; thence North 364.54 feet to the center line of Sixth North; thence East along said center line 570.1 feet more or less to the point of ESTIMATED COST The total estimated cost of all improvements is 5158,117.89 of which the Citys portion is 530,984.00 and the remainder in the amount of 5127,133.89 is to be paid by assessments to be levied on all blocks, lots, parts of blocks, and lots, tracts or parcels of property bounding, abutting upon, or adjacent to the improvements or which may be affected or specially benefitted by the improvements to the extent of the benefits to auch property by reason of the improvements. Assessments shall be made according to the frontage of the property on the streets to be improved. If so requested and installed, the cost will be assessed against the property benefitted, in addition to the assessment for The third major fire in a period of 13 months in this community occured Thursday afternoon at the Ora H. John place when a grainery, two sheds, a tractor, truck, 100 cedar posts, 100 steel posts, gasoline and the contents of the buildings which included tires, tools, harnesses, stoves, a bed, lucern seed, a bin of barley and other things of value were destroyed. The contents of the building was an estimated loss of at least $3500. The fire apparently was started from an acetylene cutting devise operated by a junk dealer who was working on an old plow in the lot and the dry june grass was ignited. The fire Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hoskins visited in the Ogden area Sunday with their sons, Wayne, Jerry and Jack Hoskins and with Mrs. Hoskins sister, Beth Workman. Mrs. Jennie Smith and two children of Oljato, are making their home with Mr. and Mrs. Loren John and family while Mrs. Smiths husband is serving in the US Army in Germany. Mrs. Smith lived with the John family on the Indian Placement program. Sam Snow received treatment at the Holy Cross hospital in Salt Lake City from Tuesday until Saturday. hurling debris as far as a block away. Sparks fell on the roof of a garage owned by Cye Gibbs but was extinguished by quick- Attend Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris attended the wedding ceremony uniting Miss Denece Gleed and ONeil Schwartz at the Malad Idaho Stake building Friday evening. Bicycle Accident Brett Parkinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Parkinson had the misfortune of breaking his arm Tuesday in a bicycle accident. He was treated at Malad. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Wilcox returned to their home Friday after visiting in Custer, S. D. with their son and daughter-in-law- , Mr. and Mrs. James Wilcox and family for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Knudsen and children, Clayton, Gordon and Susan enjoyed a family outing at Logan Canyon and Bear Lake Sunday. were among guests of Mrs. Letha Schwartz at a wedding dinner at her home. Mr. and Mrs. David Ezra Parkinson of Seattle, Wash, and Mrs. Elda Nelson of Brigham City visited with Mr. and Mrs. Barry Parkinson and family Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell C. Hall attended the Warren family reunion at North Ogden Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Morris joined members of their family at Clearfield Saturday in honor of their granddaughter, Lisa Treadwell on her birthday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Yarman. Mrs. Phil R. Harris and daughters, Janet and Jennifer of Salt Lake City were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris Friday. 2 Miss Susan Rindlisbacker was the Sunday dinner guest of J. Neal John at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Wynn John. Mrs. Ethel Hall returned to her home Tuesday from Klamath Falls, Ore. where she and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Hall of Malad visited with Mr. and Mrs. Mantua Meanderings TOTAL other improvements.to Driveways are estimated cost $120.00 for ten foot wide drives and $6.00 for each additional foot. Any flat work necessary to extend the driveway from the standard five foot length to the property line will cost $1.00 per square foot. There shall be an allowance for corner lots to be apportioned as defined and provided for in the ordinance of Brigham City, Utah, and the Laws of the State of Utah. The whole or any part of the assessments may be paid without interest within 15 days after the ordinance levying the assessement becomes effective. If the assessment is paid in part, the unpaid balance shall be payable in substantially equal installments over the period of time installments are payable with interest on the unpaid balance at a rate or rates not to exceed ten per cent in the per annum as provided assessment ordinance. A map of the proposed District and a copy of the resolution above referred to are on file in the Office of the Cit Recorder, and all persons interested are hereby referred to the same for further in regard to said improvement and said Special Improvement District. TIME FOR FILING PROTESTS of Any person who is the owner property to be assessed in the Special Improvement District described in the Notice of Intention shall have the right to file in writing a protest to the creation of the Special Improvement District or to make' any other objections relating thereto. Protests shall describe or otherwise identify the property owned by the person or persons making the protest. Well all summer people are either visiting here or Mantua-ite- s are visiting there. A pretty voice, belonging to an old time Mantua-it- e visiting home was heard Sunday. Irma Rasmussen Zundel owns the voice, and she along with brother Floyd Rasmussen and his wife Marie were here and said, "Mantua will always be home even though we now live in California. Irma and husband John Zundel are staying at the L. and T. Campground, while Floyd and Marie are staying with Maries mother in Logan. They have stopped at Mantua to visit relatives. some of the folks going there Back Hills Joyce Nelson visited the back hills of West Virginia in line with her work on the Head Start program. Visiting the homes and conditions there Joyce says, "It made me verj grateful for many things. On a three-hou- r lay over between flights she was able to visit with Terry and Karen, and reports that they are doing fine. Dennis Nelson left for Camp Hunt on Bear Lake Monday morning to be a water front director for the camp. (This will also work out to give him a quarters worth of credit and that sounds like a fun way to earn it, Dennis.) Dean Hailing, Read Nelson and Larry Hansen are working with Champion Homes for the summer. It would be nice to know who else is doing what so if you know get the news to me so I can get it to those who would like to know about you. The contestants will be staying at the Ramada Inn. The Miss Utah Teenager Pageant is the state preliminary to the Miss Nation Teenager Pageant to be held in Atlanta, Georgia on August 31, 1974. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morris, Mrs. David P. Gibbs, Arthur L. Gibbs and Mr. and Mrs. T. A. John attended funeral services for Miss LuAnn Morris at McCammon, Ida. Monday. Miss Morris, age 24 who was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris of McCammon, was the victim of a car accident Friday. LaNae Shaw and children, Jeff and Toree returned to their home in Brigham City Saturday after spending the past two weeks with Mrs. Shaws parents, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Thomas while her husband, Tom was at Guard duty. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Johnston and daughter of Bountiful came Sunday to get their son and brother, Kent and his cousin, Ryan Callister who have visited with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morris for the past two weeks.
