Show Campus now 'sad' IS BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, July 4, 1974 graduate returns to visit old friends It was a combination of fun visiting with old friends and sadness at viewing boarded-u- p dormitories at Intermountain School during the past ten days for Miss Faynie Scott, 1971 IS graduate, who has been visiting in Brigham City. Miss Scott is now head for bookkeeper the First National Bank in Shiprock, N.M., and flew to Brigham City to renew old friendships and memories of her happy days at the school. That is where the sadness came in, too, for she found it very sad to see the buildings closed up and to hear that the school might not be offering its services and facilities to students in the futue. While there, I learned a lot," she said. I could go into any vocation or academic class and went right into my job as assistant bookkeeper at the bank without extra training. News of Others Miss Scotts statement is also represented in the experience of several other IS classmates in or near Shiprock, residing with the young women getting together occasionally. Some of those friends are Etta Tsosie, a nurse in Shiprock; Julia Wood, a teachers aide in Shiprock; Julia Navajo, a nurse in Good Cooks Monument Valley; and Pauline Roanhorse, a bank teller at First National Bank where Miss Scott is employed. Right now, Miss Scott is living with a married sister, Cecelia Antonio, and her family. She has plans right now to get a house trailer of her own in the fall since there is' a severe shortage of apartment or small home units in the area. Commenting on the green lawns, trees, and flower of Brigham City, she added that if she could talk a friend into coming to the area and could be assured of a job she would like to return to live in Brigham And she can cook! e City. Visits Friends Although many of her student friends and IS staff friends are no longer in the area. Miss Scott found many old and dear friends to visit. She stayed with Evelyn Foster and enjoyed long visits with Donna Robinson whom she had known through the Protestant Student center and Kathy Coffman, a favorite teacher and friend. Two of her domitory housemothers, Mavis Gallegos and Madeline Fallows, were also visited. She traveled to Layton to spend some time with a cousin, Helena George, who is a graduate of Layton High school by Flo Munson Shes young! Shes pretty! She's friendly and she can cook! Afterward we walked to a local grocery store for a comparison in size and cost for bread and milk. We learned how to find which bread was the best buy for the highest nutrition and the best way to buy milk for the different uses. This was very interesting. We compared over a dozen different types of breads and milk. We were treated to a double ice cream cone by our leader on the way home. We worked for awhile on our record books and demonstrations were assigned for next week. Our next meeting will be held June future the suppose I like like most .
