Show 6 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, July 4, 1974 Linda Rose Kohler More enter quest displays art here for queen of Wheat, Beet Days Brigham Citys museum-galler- y for July presentation the work of Miss Linda Rose Kohler, including pottery, watercolors, batiks, oil paintings and prints to be shown to the public at an opening reception slated for Saturday, July 6, 6 to 8 p m. in the will feature museum-gallery- . Hostesses for the reception will be members of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, who have combined with the Sons of Utah Pioneers in a permanent providing historical display depicting pioneer life in the local community. Miss Kohler puts many things at the top of her list of accomplishments, including being kissed by Hawaii star James McArthur during her stay in Hawaii; but her real thing is art. 0 The latest girls to enter the Garland Wheat and Beet Days Miss America preliminary pageant are Jolene Rudd, Susan Rindlisbacher, Lynda Poulsen, and Teresa Scott Much of the reason for her enthusiasm for art comes from the wide range of activities in which she has been involved She was elected secretary of The pageant is being sponsored by the Civic and Home Arts club of Garland and is the opening attraction of the annual celebration of Wheat and Beet Days The pageant Aug 1 at 7 30 pm in the Bear River High School auditorium, will see the reigning Miss Wheat and Beet Days, Darralene Lewis, crown the winner , ' Jolene Rudd Jolene is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Norman Rudd of Fielding, and her sponsor is Rudys I G. A of Garland She has been active in school affairs while attending Bear River High school where she is a senior. She was junior class secretary, member of Searchlight staff, an officer in Future Homemakers, secretary of choir and is in the top 20 percent of her class She is active in church affairs also She will present a piano solo for her talent number. Susan Rindlisbacher Susan is a graduate of Bear River Hieh school where she was secretary of the student-bodShe was a member of the acappella choir for two years, and affiliated with Phi Gamma, Future club, Spanish Homemakers and the Bearfax staff and attended Girls State She was chosen Outstanding Citizen by the DAR. She will present a piano solo and she is sponsored by Westergard Garage Her parents are Mr and Mrs Jack Rindlisbacher of Deweyville. Utah Designer Many Mediums Her pottery is primary functional, yet sensitive. She has worked in Salt glaze, raku and earthenware pottery, but prefers stoneware. Working in clay she sees as a challenge, with the strange combination of control and accident. . by Continental Telephone Company of Utah Teresa has been a popular student while attending Bear River High school where she graduated Teresa Scott class was She senior secretary, homecoming queen, of the Searchlight, seminary graduate, and officer of the Future Homemakers, and is currently an attendant to the Box Elder County Dairy Princess She will present a reading as her talent number Lynda Poulsen Lynda is being sponsored by Northern Furniture She will play a trumpet solo for her talent number. She is a sophomore at Utah State university, where she has participated in USU Symphonic band, orchestra, jazz ensemble and chorale. She received the outstanding freshman musician award and is also receipient of a four-yea- r superior . Miss Kohler considers herself a specialty potter, making pots for special people. If the insects are not controlled they will get more vegetables than the home owners. Right now Mexican bean beetles are working hard and fast on all types of beans These in insects are copper-colore- oval, aoubt y4 inch long and have 16 black spots on their backs. The larva are orange to yellow and have a fuzzy appearance They work on underside of the leaves and on the pods.
