Anderson Its time again. enrollment sheets into Rako Yagi or Dyan Welch. Anyone from ages nine - 19 may par- ticipate. There are many projects to choose from. Some of them are: gardening (flower and vegetable), food, clothing, knitting, child care, auto mechanics, photography, livestock of any kind, or horses. Actually you can have a project in any area of interest you desire. If there isn't one already designed, talk to Mrs. Welch or Mrs. Yagi about writing up your own project. You can participate in a group, or individually. At the end of August there will be a fair to participate in. At the conclusion of the year there will be an achievement night. A seal is awarded for every completed. After year of four years a pin is awarded. Those interested in working for even greater achievement should ask about the trips to Chicago, and scholarships offered by Union Pacific and the Kerr Canning company. Highlights Program A highlight of the program is the camp held each July for 3 days of outdoor experience. Last year the camp was at Alpine, south of Jackson, Wyo. in the Snake River canyon. Those who went enjoyed rubber rafting and riding the cable-ca- r into the Tetons. for this Enrollment to join summer is due by the end of May. Anyone interested in being a leader should also contact Dyan Welch or Rako Yagi. We all have fun celebrating birthdays, but this past week was an extra fun one for the Neil Harper clan. They celebrated four birthdays. If Kenny and Vickies Aleecia Lynn would have waited just a little longer it would have been five. Jared had his birthday Monday, April 1; Elva Jean, Thursday; Diane, Friday; and Heidie, Sunday. Pauline ODell reported that the Daughters of Pioneer meeting was held Monday afternoon, April 15, at the home of Lila Wright. As a last minute change, Alice Norman gave the lesson. Betty Burt gave a history on Odella Nelson. The May trip to Salt Lake City was planned. Those who participate will visit President Brigham Youngs grave, the new DUP Carriage House, and Trolley Square. Refreshments were served to 16 members, by Stella Forsgren and LuDean Wood. Continue Education Many high school graduates from Corinne and West Corinne are continuing their education at the university of their choice. They are as follows: Cindy Wankier, Annette Nelson, Kathy and Gary Hume, Andy and Marsha Pommier, Janiel Yamasaki, Steve Eddy An Dean Wood, Julie Rasmussen, Dave Nagata, Christine Patsy Sato, Robert Anderson and Jane Ferry. (If I have missed anyone, please let me know.) I have been finding it interesting to learn of the activities of these busy young people. I hope to share highlights on each one during the next few weeks. Steve Harper and his sister, Eva Jean, will be home for the summer when they finish their finals at BYU this week. Steve is into his sophomore year. He received one quarter of work from USU and the rest while at BYU. He is majoring in business agriculture. He is finishing up several ag classes, weight lifting, square dancing, and a religion class, (Book of for returned Mormon missionaries). Along with school work Steve has been working with the Rodeo club. Last year she played left wing position, which is right next to the goolie. This year was her first year as goolie. Chris explained field hockey as being similar to ice hockey. The sticks are nearly the same. The ball is plastic, and is about the size of a base ball. It is played on a field that is larger than a football field. Chris accompanied her team to the Wasatch championship as defending champions. Teams from Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Arizona met in Albuquerque, N. M. for three days. She sees to it that each girl is remembered on her birthday. Eva Jean has been very active in her BYU branch, During the year she has served as a visiting teacher. Just recently she has been called to be Relief society president. Gary Hume has been attending BYU also. He has lived in Desert Towers this past year. His mother said that he has spent most of his time at school, coming home about once a month. He is a sophomore studying accounting. This semester he has been fulfilling his general requirements for graduation, taking computer play-off- This year was the first year for Chris in the gymnastics team. She competed as an and served as manager in charge of any injuries. The farthest away she traveled to compete was Boise, Idaho. Here she competed on the parallel bars and the vault. Because of a hand injury she was unable to compete in the alternate Intermountain tournament, involved the Utah which prove. From now until the end of spring quarter Chris will be manager of the USU Softball team. As part of her responsibilities she serves as hostess to the teams who compete at USU. She is a sophomore with one year left in Webers two year nursing school. Her first year at school was spent in general education classes. In nursing school Kathy is studing physiology, chemestry, patient care, and hospital labs. Her hospital labs give her practical experience by actually working in the hospital. She has a professor over her who gives assignments for her to help the doctors in various ways. Kathy also gets practical experience while working part time in a doctors office in Ogden at Ogden Womens clinic. She hopes to work in a hospital after graduation. Playhouse. Season passes are good and reserved seat requests will be p.m. BRHS sets junior prom The Memorial gymnasium at Bear River High school will be transformed into a Stairway for the annual To Heaven junior prom to be held April 20 at 8:30 p.m. for the event are Susan Sandall and Kent Nagoa. In charge of decorations are Stephanie Stokes and David Wheatley. A color theme of pink, burgandy, black and white will emphasize the stairway leading to heaven. The birds were owned by Paulene Lucky, 390 Montana. Sheriff Warren W. Hyde said dogs have been playing havoc with all kinds of livestock in the Corinne area over the past couple of months. She has hopes for next year. At the present time Chris is involved with the USU Con- ference and Institute program. This program is set up to offer classes to the public. Along with other coeds, Chris is teaching two gymnastic classes. One night a week for a two hour period she teaches an science, accounting classes, and weight lifting. He will be working in Salt Lake City this summer. Chris Jeppesen is more involved than the average coed. She is a second or third quarter junior majoring in physical education at USU. Upon graduation she will have a minor in music. She plans on receiving a and certificate teaching teaching at the high school level. After a couple of years of teaching experience she would intermediate class and a cheerleading class. For the intermediate class they teach how to do beginning stunts on the different tampoline, beams, vault, and tumbling.
