The Wildlife board set the season at their annual meeting on the Utah State university campus in Logan. Few changes were made in fishing regulations. An eight trout limit remains effective on the most waters. tributaries of However, Strawberry reservoir have been included with the reservoir as waters from which only six trout and-o- r salmon in the aggregate may be taken. The former bonus of six cutthroat and-o- r brook trout in the high Uintas was removed because the board felt that an excessive fish harvest was being obtained in those waters. No Limit There is no limit on bluegill, bullhead catfish or white bass. In addition, there is no limit on crappie except in Garrison and Gunlock reservoirs where anglers may take only ten. Waters that will close in 1974 will include Huntington creek downstream from the new electric dam in Emery county; the Oak Creek reservoir in Garfield county; and Lake Canyon Lake in Duchesne county. Fishermen can again visit Minersville reservoir next season, after its one year closure due to chemical treatment to remove undesirable species. Two species have been added to the endangered species list and their removal from Utahs waters will require written permission from the Division. They are the bony tail chub and the Virgin River spinedace. Whitefish season was extended to April 30 on portions of the Weber, Blacksmith Fork, Logan and Duchesne rivers. The Board ruled that the possession of corn while fishing would be illegal. This was a step to make the illegal practice of chumming less tempting. The board instructed fisheries chief Donald Andriano to conduct a study to determine the feasibility of year round fly fishing in specific , waters for possible inclusion in future regulations.
