Not only is he a great guy, but a terrific traffic controller. From that little box he gets a birds eye view of all that is going on. He gets the teams on and off the track in record time and Saturday his instructions prevented what might have been a serious accident. We had two teams in the gate and two teams returning on the far side of the track. He instructed them , to turn and run the same way and all was well. We do get some close ones. Perhaps situations like this could be cut to a minimum if the winning team would hustle a little and get back for picture taking as fast as possible. The day just did not seem right without Bill Carter out there, running horses and helping in any way he could. He always contributed so much every week. We miss him and his family. Beyond Control Do to circumstances beyond our control, like broken down trucks, sore horses, etc. The races are not always run as they are listed. The important thing is they are run.
