Show November Exhibit Reports Stolen Purse A purse containing two, $25 Savings Bonds, was reported missing by Nellie Harper, Brigham City, Tuesday night. She said the purse was taken from her car while it was parked behind at a store at 265 North Main. U.S. Artists Honored At BC Reception By Sarah Yatea Society Editor Three Brigham City artists displaying works with the annual Utah State Institute of Fine Arts exhibit now featured in the Brigham City museum-galler- y were honored at a reception on Saturday evening hosted by the American Association of University Women at the gallery. The three include Daniel R. Shurtliff, whose painting 20th Century" was a merit award winner in the fifth annual statewide painting exhibition. His impressive drawing of one of the citys old gnarled trees took Shurtliff approximately three months to complete and is an work of art. It recently appeared on the cover of the issue of the Utah Artisan magazine. Lynn Hone, an art teacher at Box Elder Junior High school and winner of the 1972 Peach Days Art show purchase prize, has on exhibit a modern airk July-Augu- brush painting st entitled Odyssey in Space." It features unusual forms and patterns with striking color use, and is displayed near the building entrance. Sheep Drive Using the familiar movement of sheep as his subject, local artist Gary Case has produced a soft and lovely painting entitled On the Move." His special effect in the work was produced by a brown background with a cutting technique to produce the shapes of the sheep surrounded by a cloud of dust. Two other paintings in the exhibit stand out in their of photographic quality representation of their subjects. 10 Edith T. Robersons Oclock Oil Can" was judged for the $1,000 purchase prize award in the contest, and Dale Orem Tree T. Fletchers House was selected for a merit award in the annual judging. Both are fine representational art and show excellent color, perspective and treatment.
