Guests at the meeting were Mrs. Lucy Wright, Mrs. Grace Beasley and Mrs. Ella Johnson. Mrs. Nielson gave the life story of her husband's (George C.C.A. Nielson) grandfather, Christensen, pioneer artist. She had on display many of his pictures and photos, sketches of scenes as he crossed the plains, and then painted the plains, and then painted those sketches to depict the journey of the pioneers after reaching Utah. The paintings have been on display at Brigham Young University, and were recently taken to New York state for a special showing. Christensen was declared Artist of the Year in 1970 by a national organization. Take Tour Arriving home last week, from an interesting three-wee- k tour in their camper, are Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Olsen. We went a lot of places weve always wanted to go and came home with a number of rocks and desert wood, we collected along the way, Mrs. Olsen said when I talked with her about the vacation jaunt. The Olsens went first to Lake Mead where they spent two days, then stopped in Roy Rogers Apple Valley. They toured the museum there which features interesting items once belonging to the Rogers family. Traveling on south, they were stopped for several hours due to a big wind near San Bernardino. When they could travel again they headed for San Diego and were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Oak Camp Oak Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, at the home of Mrs. Fay J. From San Diego they went over to Yuma, Ariz., visited the Organ Pipe National Forest. They traveled into Sonora, Mex. enjoying the quaint sites in that area, then came back to North Quartzite, Ariz. Then they went north along the Colorado River. They visited Sultan Sea, Calif, and went into the mountains above Lake Henshaw where they visited one of the semiprecious stone mines. Going back to San Diego they visited with former Brighamites Mr. and Mrs. Wes Shirts and spent a day in Tijuana before coming back to Utah. Stayed all Winter Jerry Fruin are Mr. and Mrs. home again their winter apartment at San Clemente and enjoyed three months golfing, playing bridge and just enjoying the ocean view from their apartment window. Mrs. Rhoda Hansen is home after spending four months visiting Deseret Camp Deseret her family. She went first to Portland, Ore. where she visited with her and daughter Mr. and Mrs. George Ingebo, then went to Huntington Park and stayed with her daughter Mrs. Ferron Christensen. Next stop was Las Vegas and a visit with another and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Erving Zinck. She arrived Thursday by train and will return to her high school studies Monday traveling home Homemakers Set Speaker Young Homemakers Association of Brigham City invites members and interested women to attend a special meeting on Tuesday, March 16, at 1 p.m. at thi North Box Elder LDS stake center, 620 North Third East. ' Guest speaker on the subject of landscaping and gardening will be Harold Lindsay, Box Elder County Extension agent for Utah State university. All women from Brigham City, Honeyville, Harper, Mantua, Perry and Willard are invited to attend this third monthly meeting of the new organization. Purposes of the organization are to create good homes and satisfying living, provide an opportunity for all homemakers to gain skills and understandings which contribute to their own interests and needs, and to help contribute to the welfare of the community and others. He is a faculty member at Utah State university. Prior to coming to Brigham City, he was an extension agent in Southern Utah for a number of years. A babysitter will be available for the children.
