Show Credit to City BOX ELDER NEWS, Brigham City, Utah Sunday, 'March 1 4, 1 971 3 i March Interest Rate Good On District Bonds Brigham City plucked off a very excellent interest rate Thursday as city fathers opened bids to issue $200,000 special improvements district bonds. The low rate of 4.287727 percent was submitted by Box Eider County bank which was represented at the meeting by Don A. Carlson, executive vice president and cashier. Dick Christensen, representing Burrows Smith and company, Salt Lake City financial consultant firm, said the rate was exceptionally good. His own firm was second low at 4.3727 percent Five bids were received. This plus the competative nature of the rates offered prompted Christensen to tell the mayor and city council that this demonstrates peoples confidence in the way fiscal affairs of this community are handled. Nicest Community He said a spokesman for a Denver firm which entered the bidding competition called Brigham City the nicest community m Utah, based on its financial soundness. City officials were plainly pleased that a local bank got the business. The bonds will finance Special Improvement District No. 16 for those benefiting property owners who are paying their assessments over a period. Gleaners Plan Activities M-Me- In other business Thursday, the council authorized a hearing April 1 on a proposal. The planning commission has recommended the change which would rezone from to a parcel of property at Third North and Second West. The property is contiguous to an zone so would not be spot zoning, said Councilman Blaine Olsen. He said the owner plans to tear down an old house and construct a three-uni- t dwelling in its place. The council approved a beer license for Tommy Williams at the city golf course pro shop. Approval was given for removal of shade trees at 204 South Second West, 137 North Fifth West and 125 North Fifth West. Councilman Wayne Jensen was asked to work with City Recorder Tolman Burke and Public Works Director O. Neil Smith on Jensen's proposal for a fee policy governing use of the Rees park bowery. The councilman said if users are required to pay a fee and make reservations at the city office, it should eliminate conflicts and confusion. Mayor Olof Zundel asked him also to consider a policy for other smaller boweries or shelters in city parks. The mayor read a letter from Gov. Calvin L. Rampton which congratulated the city on recently receiving another national beautification award.
