Sheffield Observes 91st Date Mrs. Lydia Jolley Sheffield 172 West 200 North Street, Kaysville, observed her 91st birthday anniversary on Nov. with her family members. SHE WAS bom Nov. 1, 1886 at Moroni, Utah, a daughter of Joseph Loftis and Sina Lauritzen Jolley. She was the oldest of 11 children. She was educated in schools at Moroni and is a graduate of Brigham Young University at Provo. She attended summer school at the University of Utah and Snow College at Ephraim. Mrs. Sheffield taught school at Richfield and Moroni prior to coming to Kaysville. BEGAN SHE teaching school in Kaysville, arriving here in 1910. Soon after she was married to Fred A. Sheffield of Kaysville, and dis- continued her teaching and devoted her time to raising a family. They were parents of four sons and one daughter. MRS. SYDNEY C. THAYNE Temple Rites Mr. and Mrs. DeWane Downs of 3407 S. 1000 W., Syracuse are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Vicki Downs and Sidney C. Thayne. The Salt Lake LDS Temple was the scene of their marriage. of PARENTS the bridegroom are Bishop and Mrs. I. John Thayne, 2804 S. 1000 W., Syracuse. The couple was honored that same evening with a reception in the Syracuse Third LDS Ward cultural hall. THE BRIDE greeted guests in a gown of lace and satin. It featured an empire waist line, a deep rounded neck, and bishop sleeves that were caught at the wrist with a skirt deep cuff. The was edged with lace and a dainty sheer chapel train fell from a wide headpiece. The bride was attended by Miss Karen Palmer, as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Penny Downs, sister of the bride, Miss Robin Thur-goo- d and Miss Linda Thayne, and Miss Glenna Thayne, both of the sisters bridegroom. ASSUMING the duties of best man was Mark Thayne, brother of the bridegroom, and another brother, Mike Thayne, Bret Downs, the brides brother, and Steve Wilson were ushers. The couple spent a wedding trip at Lake Tahoe and upon their return plan to make their home in Layton. PRIOR tc her marriage the new Mrs. Thayne was entertained with showers given by Mrs. Michael M. Jones, Mrs. Paul R. Taylor and a family social held for the couple at the Thayne home for 30 close relatives, vsb Nov. 17. SHE IS KNOWN for her friendly smile, kind word and love for everyone. She loved poetry and the fine arts. Among her hobbies was the collection of fine china. She is an active member of the Kaysville Art Club and has spent many hours writing sketches of her parents lives as well as many of her ancestors. She kept a neat and tidy home and is loved and respected by all who knew her. She is an inspiration to all. HER CHILDREN are, Elin bert, an attorney Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. Howard J. (Loma) Anderson, Washington D. C.; Loftis of Provo who is retired from the FBI; Val J. who resides in Glendale, Calif, and is executive with Utah Oil Company of California; and Dr. Fred J. a retired colonel of the U.S. Army Medical Corps who also resides in California, np Special Treat For Sr. Citizens Eugene Tolman, president of the Happy K & F (Kaysville and Farmington) senior citizens is announcing a special treat for all senior citizens 60 years and over on Thursday, AFTER HER husbands death, she worked as a clerk at the Clearfield Naval Supply Depot in Clearfield and later was employed at Hill Air Force Base as assistant librarian. She spent many years in service to her church. She served 16 years as president of the LDS Primary Association in the original Kaysville First LDS Ward. She taught religious classes, served in the YW MIA presidency and Sunday School Stake Board. School Stake Board. THEY ARE featuring a free dinner and program to all who attend.
