This is the game where a mans word is supposed to be good. A SANDBAGGER is someone who had a handicap of 20 and can still shoot par golf. The experts, in an effort to equalize the golfers, came up with the handicap system. A golfer shoots about three She was my secretary before we were married. Now shes the treasurer. Democrat, St. Louis, rn ui e rounds and his scores are averaged and compared with par and then his handicap is figured out. For example if a golfer shoots on an average of 80 for ,R holes then his handicap would be higher than a playei .oat shoots the same 18 holes in 73. SANDBAGGER is someone who can shoot about 73, and but for certain rounds he accidently has an scores an 82 putting his handicap up. To accomplish this fete all one has to do is miss a few close putts, duff a few' chips and slice some drives. But somehow this never happens when theres money to be won. A HIS LAMENT M BUT SOMEWHERE along the line, from the time golf was invented until the game it is today, another word has become frequent with golf. The new word is sandbagger. Thats not to say that sandbaggbrs havent been around for a long time, they probably have, but for the first time in some years the word is becoming more common. off-da- y FOR THE most part the golfers are all honest, but one sandbagger can and does spoil an entire tournament. good golfer once indicated to me that he wouldnt play tournaments at a certain course because of the number sandbaggers at that course. A in of ( FIRST PLACE winners wilt receive trophies and other places will receive ribbons. Bring your bikes and boards and everybody join in. By DAVE WIGHAM ACCIDENTS, i I 2 Kaysville Police Report i i, f skateboards. Registration will take place at the fire station Bottom Right: Trent Leonard hangs a turn in preparation for the newest event in the races this year. Skateboard competition has been added to the schedule of events for the Kaysville Heritage Harvest Days family Fun activities to be conducted on Saturday July 2 beginning at 9:30 a.m. in downtown Kaysville. Its family fun time and all ages are welcome to register and try for the trophies and race for the ribbon. THE ASPECT that has me confused is that the sandbagger isnt fooling anyone. Golfers know by the w'ay a person sw'ings a club if hes a good golfer or not. There is nothing more confusing than to see a golfer say he has a handicap of 20 and hit every shot like Jack Nicklaus and that happens. this article rings a bell in the back of the head of any of the sandbaggers reading this, Im glad. hope that the golfers can get back to being honest, thats what the FOURTEEN DEMOS AND DRIVER TRAINING CARS ARE NOW AVAILABLE AT GREAT SAVINGS.
