Then we got that shot on our goal that took us all by surprise, Calder said. Wasatch kicked the ball from the right side of the goal and found the net outside the reach of Lady Ute goal keeper Carly Harrison. Coach Calder credited the defensive efforts of Alise Watkins, Loni Edwards, Keeley Bartlett and Lindy Jones for keeping Uintah in the game. They were getting to the ball, moving it away from our goal area and stopping shots," Coach Calder said. Calder felt that the game balance slipped toward Wasatch in the second half because the Lady Utes slackened their efforts. We let down a little and weremt as aggressive in the second period, Calder said. Wasatch stepped it up a little and got the game. In Salt Lake City, the final score did not tell the full story. In preparing for the match, the Lady Utes knew that they had a formidable task. Judge is number one ranked and has regularly slam dunked their opponents in wide point margins. Coach Calder witnessed her team working hard on the skills they have been practicing and effectively close down the explosive scoring abilities of the Judge players. She thought Judge was pretty well in hand during the second period when they were only able to muster one of their 4 goals. The Lady Utes play two games this week. They faced the Granite Farmers yesterday in Salt Lake City. Tomorrow, they will be Roosevelt in a contest against Union. Coach Calder was optimistic about the week.
