The Republic of Vietnam also awarded him the Cross of Gallantry. He was deployed from Wurts-mit- h AFB, Michigan to a combat duty assignment for six months, again flying over Southeast Asia. These flights originated out of Guam and Thailand, several of which were bombing missions over North Vietnam to Hanoi. These combat duty assignments brought his Air Medal total to eight. Engineering assignments took the family to San Antonio, Texas and Hill AFB in Ogden. His achievements at Hill AFB earned him a Meritorious Service Medal. This Medal was awarded a second time to Major Jardine as he distinguished himself in the performance of outstanding service to the US Air Force while at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. While stationed at Andersen AFB, Guam, he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal Until the 16th century, it was customary for women to wear their wedding rings on their right hands, rather than their left. Major Randy Jardine for a highly successful classified reconnaissance mission and another Commendation Medal for his work with the 3rd Air Division. Temporary duty assignments took Major Jardine away from his family to serve in Iran, Korea, Australia, Spain, Philippines, Okinawa, Diego Garcia, and the Indian Ocean. Major Jardine is the son of Mrs. Loila Jardine of Tooele and the late Boyce Jardine. His wife, Sari, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ezola Jr. of Trenton. Every day, thousands of people bury good ideas because they are afraid to act on them. Stanford Lee - cemetery. On May 10, this year - my wifes birthday, I bought an arrangement of flowers and put on her grave, for her birthday. I went up on May 1 1 and someone had stolen it - some person or persons and it makes me enraged to think that anyone would do something like that and Im wondering just what type of person this could be. In my estimation such a person has to be lower than a roden that crawls around on four legs. It was sad enough when my wife was knocked down on the main street of Tooele in January, 1978, and killed, due to the negligence of Tooele City and State Road Commission - by not having sufficient traffic lights installed on two un- safe and hazardous corners on Main Street. I dont know but what people have forgotten all about it but I havent!!! I have to live with it and its affects on my life. I really upsets me to think that putting flowers on the grave of a loved one in memoriam isnt held sacred. This is the second time that this has happened and because of it I am an unhappy and disillusioned individual. The person or persons whoever has taken them - I wouldnt want to meet face to face because I dont know what I would end up saying or doing to them. I dont care who knows that this is how I feel. Im going to be angry about this the rest of my days. Maybe somebody will take heed, so no one else has to have such misgivings. A. Woodward flood-fightin- Soap Comparison Editor: Being retired and having more time to shop and compare prices certainly was very rewarding from a financial standpoint and to say the least quite shocking to discover that the largest, richest and most respected and trusted detergent manufacturers would deceive and take advantage of their good customers in this manner. Grocery stores are always having sales and promoting case lots of canned goods, 10 and 20 lb. packages of meat, large sacks of flour, sugar, potatoes, etc. to obtain the advantage of lower prices per pound andor per can. This merchandising theory leads the pubic to believe that its cheaper to buy large quantities to obtain lower prices on other items also. Now enters the culprit, the detergent companies. different powdered I priced 12 detergent boxes of different sizes and weight and companies. When I got home with my trusty calculator I was quite shocked to say the least prices of detergents varied from 34 cents per pound to 78 cents per pound . Thats roughly 110 percent -- increase in price. One company, a very well known and very popular one also, had 2 boxes adjacent to one another on the store shelf first box, 5 lbs. at .626 cents per pound to lb. box price per pound of 10 equals .715 cents cost .089 cents per pound higher on larger 10 lb. box. Card Of Thanks I would like to thank each and every volunteer who has given us such a tremendous amount of support in helping sandbag during the flooding of Cooley Stret, both day and night. Through the efforts of these volunteers, we were able to prevent any major damage Jo our homes. I would also like to thank the city and county officials and the irrigation officials for their untiring efforts in trying to keep the flooding to a minimum and their 24 hour a day watch for our safety. No matter what time of the day or night I looked outside, I could always see one of them. Last, but not least, thank you to the many women who kept a constant supply of food on hand for an size boxes are sometimes more expensive per pound and are not always the best buys as we have Child Find Forms Chapter We at Child Find wish to thank each and everyone of you who donated. Kathy Maycock Pre-Planni- ng Editor: It is only on rare occasions that the stress of looming crisis enables us to discard our inhibitions and engage in the drama of community cooperation as displayed in the current flood control efforts underway in Tooele. Too much credit cannot activibe given to the ties of church and city officials and to the organized accomplishments of the sandbag crews. As could be expected, every contingency could not be recognized and prepared for in advance. A case in point is the large hole which developed in the street at the head of Pioneer Avenue. This posed a threat to the integrity of the intake system which, if allowed to prog EFFICIENT. Hut if we were only as efficient as the average utility, the price tag would have been much higher. By finishing a full year ahead of the industry average, UP&L saved $80 million. Efficiency entered every phase of analysis, planning and construction. Our engineers and contractors were able to pull many designs from previous plants off the shelf, saving time and expense in engineering. Then they designed and applied techniques, many unique in the industry. Shorter construction time means lower labor and interest costs. These savings benefit the company and the customers. It has nothing to do with accumulation of money. Its the security that comes from knowing that no matter what happens, you can always change your strategies and come out on top. You can take away my cash, my credit, my financial statements at the bank everything the world considers wealth. But I'll always have the only thing that really counts; my own resources. That is, my time, my ability to communicate, my courage and my knowledge. You don't have to spend any money to make a succes. -Robert G. Alien |
