Gadd, a member of the Juab County Board of Commissioners. director The conference, which was held on May 30 and 31, tocused its attention on the Rural Development Act as passed by Congress in 1972, according to Marrott. Speakers at the conlerence included such men as former Hubert Humphrey; Senator Robert Dole of Kansas; Edward T. Breathitt, t, tnrmer Governor of Kentucky; and many others. Some ol the conclusions of the conlerence were: The Rural Development Act was to be implemented by rural people with local control given to the states and the project areas. - Existing pro- grams, such as REAP, REA, and economic development programs that have proven effective in rural areas are scheduled deleted in the President's budget will be reviewed very carefully by the Congress belore they are completely phased out. Many ot these' programs have been provisionally funded until June 30, 1974. The band, under the direction of Kay Bassett and Anona Spencer, drum majorette, did an outstanding job, according to Miss Spencer. The band has plans to march in several other events throughout the summer, including the Fourth of July parade in Provo, and the Ute Stampede Parade. According to Anona Spencer, drum majorette, the band mother organization has really helped the progress of the band. The presidency of the organization consists of Mrs. Harold Liddiard, Mrs. Winston Neilson, and Mrs. Delos Andrews. Mills news Mrs. Dean Howard of Mills, and her mother, Mrs. 0. L. Eliason of Moroni returned home after spending two weeks in California with their daughter and granddaughter, Mrs. Phyllis Chiaradia, Mrs. Eliason also visited with a daughter, Mrs. Pernella Fish at Hayward, California. Mrs. Howard visited in San Francisco and Sausalito with her granddaughter, Miss Tami Ingram, and in Hayward with her sister, Mrs. Fish. Miss Alice Chiaradia returned home with them to spend the summer at Mills with Mrs. Howard. Mrs. Elva Nielson met them at the airport in Salt Lake city.
