Consumers, it is said, feel powerless to communicate their complaints and anxieties to manufacturers. The reason has to do with the complexity of American business and an impersonal marketing structure that has made even more remote those large, faceless national companies. Many companies recognize the problem and have taken steps to create a diagogue with their customers. At least one, for example, has set up nationwide e telephone lines that enable customers to talk directly with factory-base- d service representatives. On their own or in cooperative ventures responsible business firms are opening up new channels with customers in other ways. Many of these companies, together with Utah businesses, are participating in the National Consumer Poll being held in conjunction with Consumer Information Week, a campaign sponsored by ail Utah newspapers, radio and television stations in cooperation with the Better Business Bureau of Utah. This poll, called The Big Check Up gives you, the cousumer an opportunity to speak up to business on a variety of subjects: what, in buying you find most annoying: what types of consumer information you need; what consumer programs of business you find constructive. You can make your complaints and attitudes by filling in anonymously the Utah Media Consumer Poll, to be printed in the Thursday, May 11 issue of The Times-Newand mailing it to the Better Business Bureau of Utah. Make your viewpoints known. Business will get the message. A computerized analysis of the returns will be prepared by tiie Better Business Bureau and the findings reported to business. As the questionnaire ponts out, the vast majority of business and industrial companies want to serve you efficiently and satisfactorily. Your participation in the consumer referendum will help them do a better job in your behalf. s, CHAPPARRAL ALL-TERRA- Girls Day Activities toll-fre- PHONE ' Make your feeling from CHASE'S miles south of Levan.
