Cub Scouts in a recent j,MWWniiiiinw J Cub Scouts of the Nephi First Ward, with the aid of the local Forest Service personnel, recently participated in a project of cleaning the litter from the large camp ground down to Pole canyon. They collected 25 large bags of trash. This qualifies them for recognition in the nation wide "Project SOAR (Save Our American Resources. The purpose is to show the boys that they are interdependent with their environment and that they have responsibilities as citizens to contribute to a better environment On Monday, May 17, the Cub Scouts met at the Forest Service building where they received certificates and special Smokey Bear patches for their uniforms, as a reward for a job well done. Den Mothers Marion Jensen, Jolene Christensen, Gayle Lynn and Joyce expressed a great concern for the way the adult people of this area are so unconcerned with the littering example they set for these young people. Todays Cub Scouts are tomorrows adult citizens, they stated, and we had better start right now in preparing them Instead of confusing them. We are all partners in this great country called America so dont be the partner to let the rest of us down. Watch for more action on June 5, which is "Scouting Keeps America Beautiful Day.
