When Q. you think back about this team in 20 years, what will stand out the most? A. I think that 20 years from now, I will remember the look in my players eyes. Looking at me after they gave everything they could, their eyes sad, tired, yet still confident. I will remember the way they looked, their uniforms dirty, sweaty, bloody, and torn. They looked like they had nothing left to give. I will remember how proud I was of those 13 boys who never got intimidated, even when Juan Diegos 30 play in a give fight. Most impor- tantly, is how even though Juan Diego is in Salt Lake City, we had more fans cheering us on. Our kids have a great community following. We even had all of the grounds crew and Kearns High people cheering for us. Q. How do you do it? How do you get kids to perform above their individual capacities and play as a team? A. I would like to give the players that credit. A. I want them to leave knowing the game of baseball, to compete, always hustle, never fear competition, refuse to lose, and always practice perfect! Practice alone doesnt make perfect, but perfect practice makes perfect. Also, have fun and work hard. Q. Why do you think you have been successful as a baseball coach, not just at the high school level, but also with little leaguers as well9 books. I have been fortunate enough to play in national competitions and know that small town boys can compete at any level, and I constantly remind them that the are only lacking experience, not talent. Q.
