Show Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife still at Members of the San Juan Chapter of the Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife are gearing up for another great year. Greg McGregor, from St. George, is the new representative for the Mother Company and is replacing Tony Abbott who did a wonderful job for our fund raisers. Local people voted in to take over as committee members include new President Terry Ekker and committee members Darrin Shumway and Davey Lee from Blanding. Committee members are still needed from Monticello, Bluff, La Sal or other outlying communities located in San Juan County. One of the big projects that nad been slated last fall had tc be canceled because of rain. The project was cleaning out or dredging several reservoirs that are located on BLM property for more water storage for wildlife and livestock. This will be accomplished at a later date, hopefully in 2005. We are looking for other worthwhile projects, preferably on either BLM or Forest Property that will benefit wildlife. Upcoming events include another pike fishing tournament, poker run, and our annual fund raiser banquet slated for April 22, 2005 at the Monticello High School. The committee is seeking bids for catering the meal for the banquet. Any individual or business who is interested should call Terry Ekker at 1 for more information. 678-404- Bids must be received by March 21. Banquet tickets will go on sale soon, watch for more information. Money generated through this banquet will be used for resources, commitment and expertise required to achieve wildlife objectives set by the wildlife board. Twenty percent of the proceeds will go directly into a statewide conservation fund of which some can be used locally on projects to help rebuild our winter ranges, rebuild Wednesday, March THE SAN JUAN RECORD it guz- zlers. tanks, and watering areas to help restore our wildlife populations. Ten percent of the proceeds will remain in the Chapter to do our own projects through local interests and help. 9, 2005 - Raye 13 Angel Archers: A family activity!
