A special thanks goes to the members of the Safari Committee: Ben Black, Brett Black, Kim Burtenshaw, Monte Dalton, Kerry Freestone, Harold Frost, Lawrence Guymon, Doug Harkey, Lloyd Nielson, David Palmer, Ed Scherick, Glen Swank, and Bob Turri. They have worked tirelessly since January to organize and plan the event. San Juan County, Blanding City, and Monticello City have also contributed much of their time and resources, and we greatly appreciate their support. The sponsors of the event were Black Hawk Tours, Blanding Motor Parts, Blue Mountain Foods, Blue Mountain Trading Post, Brent Johansen, D.D.S., Canyonlands C Store, Canyonlands Tire, Clarks Market, Days Inn, Devons Repair, Four Corners Inn, GetGo Graphics, Hondaland, K&A Chuckwagon, LaRues Embroidery, Out Redds West Food & Fuel, Blue Mountain Panorama, Patio Drive-In- , True Value, San Juan Dental, San Juan Mortuary, San Juan Record, SPEAR, Super 8 Motel. We thank them for their financial support. The Safari brought in over 91 participants from as far away as Missouri. We had about 54 local people who volunteered to act as guides and show these people the hospitality of San Juan County and our great trail system. The success of the Safari really depended on the trail guides, and they came through with flying colors. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Our county has a wide diversity of trails and is a great resource we should fight to protect and keep open. Thank you. What a gifted spirit he is. I dare to say he has touched the lives of people all around the world. Especially those here in San Juan County. It was such a joy working with him during the time I did flowers for funerals. lie was always so happy to see me, always allowing me to arrange the flowers, saying You know what you are doing. He always wanted to know how things were going. He will be greatly missed. Danny, we want you to know also how grateful we are for you and your gifted spirit. Knowing that our moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, friends and neighbors will be well taken care of when our Father in Heaven calls us home. We wanted you to know of our love for Don. This is the way we feel about Whats New by Mary Lou. You was always amazed at the people she knew and the connections Mary Lou had and the care and love she had for people living here and those that had moved away. She kept us in touch. I know she was loved at the Senior Citizens gatherings and always had fun games, ideas, and food. Our family will miss not knowing what Mom and Dad are doing. Also having their names in the paper when they visit. Thanks again, Mary Lou.
