Show New Olympic license plate available THE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday April 8, 1998 - Page 4 The new license plate commemorating Utahs up- 2002 coming Olympic Winter Games is available for purchase through the statewide motor vehicle registration mail-i- n pro- Mogram and also through tor Vehicle Division branch offices statewide. The registration renewal mail-i- n packets will provide Utahns an opportunity to order the new plates during the annual renewal process. The plates cost $22 to acquire, and $22 each year at the time of registration renewal, in addition to Utahs normal registration fees and property tax. The annual $22 fee will be required until 2002. After 2002, the Olympic plate will remain a valid license plate, with no additional renewal fees. Proceeds, after administrative costs, will be used by the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for programs de Sciences Sterling Scholar Three winners from San Juan High Fourteen honored at Sterling Scholar competition Led by three winners from San Juan High School, 14 students from San Juan County schools received honors at the Sterling Scholar competition. The annual awards competition, which was held on March 31 in Moab, honors the top high school students in southeastern Utah. Seniors from nine schools compete for the Sterling Scholar award in 12 categories. Winners and runners-u- p are eligible for scholarships, in addition to the awards from the compe- Arts, and Kylee Brown in General Scholarship. The Olympic plate sequence will be: three numbers, followed by one letter and then another number. The five characters may be personalized at a cost of $50, plus the $22 purchase price. As with all personal- ized plates, an additional $10 registration fee will be required at registration re- newal, along with the an- nual $22 Olympic plate re- newal fee. Runners up from Monticello include Crystal Bailey in Visual Arts, Trisdan Boyle in Social Science, Andrew Taylor in Science, Jodi Tracy in English, Andrea Montgomery in Business & Marketing, Samuel Crane in Family, Consumer & Health Sciences, and Logan Dowell in General Scholarship. Monument Valley High School was represented by Anna Roberts, who was the runner up in Music.
