Diane Johnston has returned from a trip to Lincoln, NE visiting a girlfriend for ten days, and seeing her son and daugher-in-lain Whitefish, MT plus seeing her brother and sister-in-lain the Portland, OR area. She also flew to Southern California and visited her younger son and her parents, as well. Shes glad to be home in Monticello. w w Marion and Mildred Miller flew April 3rd to Denver for the wedding reception of their granddaughter Diane Miller and Mark Spavaski. They also visited their son Glen Miller and family and son Carl and family while in Denver. Mr. and Mrs. John attended a reof the Albert R. Lyunion man children and their spouses last weekend at the home of Scott T. and Lyn Him-melberg- er Lyman in Orem. A great time was had by all attend- ing. had a wonderful 95th birthday Tuesday the 13th. I Which I was given six bouquet of flowers. Bertha Cle- veland and Elaine Barry had a few friends Tuesday evening at Elaines home. Some from Dove Creek and some here. My granddaughter Jeanne Redshaw came from Haxtum, CO (over 500 miles) Monday for my birthday and to visit her brother Richard Redshaw and family, returning Friday. Also, Jim and Judy Barry came Saturday from Gunnison, CO for my birth- day. NORTHERN NEWS by William Pierce If you had wanted to see the race Sunday morning you would have had to gotten up very early, just as the sun was rising. Then travel to mile post four on Highway 46, five miles west of La Sal, the starting point of the race. The first group of racers took off for this competition with just barely enough light for them to see the direction of their course. The second group waited with tense anticipation for 7:00 a.m. to arrive and with it their turn to take off. This group milled around in the confined space provided for their transportation about nine inches in height, and approximately three by four feet in area. At the appointed time the participants took off with a flutter and flap of wings in a mad dash for Price. The two groups of racers were brought to the La Sal area by Stehus- My granddaughter Happenings by Helen phanie Gallegos and band came from North Salt Lake Friday and stayed until after the Sunrise service and breakfast at the community church on I thank my Sunday. friends and family for a happy three days. Graveside services for Roy McDonald at the Mountain View cemetary in East-lan- d on Wednesday the 14th. He passed away in Palisade, CO. We are happy to have more of our friends back riding the senior bus. Raleia Paskett spent the winter with her daughter and family in Kingman, AZ and Nina Hyde also spent the winter with relatives. J.J. and Shirley Steffen are back. Fern Richey back from St. George. James and Bernice Barry drove to Houston, TX for the wedding of James nephew. I was glad to see the La Sal Deanna and Ruel Randall spent the Easter weekend in Mesa, AZ. Where there they attended the reunion of Deannas family the Shills. They also saw the Easter Pageant on the Temples grounds.
