Show THE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday April 21, 1993 Pago 7 Mountain bike tours proposed Monticello Ranger District is proposing outfitted and guided special use permits for mountain bike tours across portions of the district. The guided tours would use existing roads; Elk Ridge Road (FDR 088), North Long Point Road n (FDR 091), Indian Creek-Johnso- Creek Road (FDR 079), and the Causeway Road (FDR 095) from its junction with FDR 079. Trail use is not considered in this proposal. The proposal would require low impact camping techniques; tent camping with a support vehicle car- rying gear and supplies, use of firepans, pack out trash and waste. Group size would typipeople but cally be 5 would be limited to no more than 15 people, including guides. Bluff On Thursday and Friday, April 15 and 16, Bluff Elementary students partic- ipated in the American Heart Associations Jump Rope for Heart event. They also raised about $200 in donations for the Heart Association and had a great time doing it. About 48 students from th grade participated. They were assigned to teams of six students each. Two people on each team jumped at a time. At the end of two minutes they switched then two more would jump for two minutes, and so on. At the end of the event, certificates were awarded along with punch and cookies for everyone. Prizes were also given away. The event was organized by Kenny Rindlisbacher, with help from Kathy Carson, Jewel Yanito and Linda Sosa. Businesses donated punch and cookies for refreshments included The Sunbonnet Cafe and K&C Trading Post.
