Show Blue Mountain Entertainment presents concert with "local flavor" on April 21 Janae Codner, concert pian- ist will delight local concert-goer- s with a special performance on Saturday, April 21, at 8 p.m. at the Monticello High School Auditorium. Sponsored by Blue Mountain Entertainment Association, the concert also will feature vocal soloist Sandra Robinson Santos of St. George as well as top musicians from Monticello High and San Juan High schools. Janae, age 12, has soloed twice with the Utah Symphony (both times receiving standing ovations), six times with the Utah Valley Symphony, and also has played with the Murray Symphony. She is a daughter of John and Nancy Codner of Provo, and a granddaughter of Jack and Devon Codner of Monticello. Besides winning numerous state contests, Janae was a winner in the Gina Bachauer Competition and won first place three times with the Young Keyboard Artists Association International Piano Competition in Michigan. She won first place three times in the International Stravinsky Competition in Chicago. Janae was featured on the cover of the prestigious Clavier magazine, and she has appeared with the Mormon Sym- Utah Power's rate for eleclridty to households is phony in Oakland, California. She just returned from a benefit concert in Sarasota, Florida. This summer she will spend ten days in Russia at the Moscow Conservatory with other selected pianists from the United States. : at Janae is a seventh-grade- r school in Meridian, a private Provo. She studies piano with Dr. Irene Peery. Sandra Santos will perform a .. at the lowest price since 1982. Kates in Utah have been going down since 1988. A graduate of Monticello High School, Sandra studied locally - with Johnnie Bailey before attending and graduating from Dixie College, where she studied with Howard Putnam. While at Dixie, she sang with the Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and Program Bureau, and performed two vocal recitals. Sandra graduated from Utah State University in 1985, after studying with Bonnie Slade and singing with the Northern Utah Civic Chorale. Since moving to St. George, she has been a soloist for the Southwest Symphonic Chorale for many concerts. With the Chorale, she recently sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in St. George. She has been a featured soloist for the Messiah and the St. George Tabernacle Concert Series. Most recently Sandra has begun teaching private voice lessons through Dixie College and at home. She is married to Robin Santos and they are the parents of four children. Blue Mountain Entertainment is pleased also to present three music students from Monticello High School and a clarinet choir from San Juan High School. These outstanding students have recently earned 1 ratings in Region solo and ensemble festivals. Next week they will be involved in state competitions. Admission to this bonus concert is by Blue Mountain Entertainment Association season membership or by tickets which may be purchased at the door. It is offered free of charge to who purchase season tickets for next year. non-membe- rs varied program of music -- including sacred, Broadway, opera, and classical.
