The Utah moose (Alces alces shirasi) is the smallest of the four subspecies of moose. Since this animal has a small population, it is the most sought after subspecies of moose in the world. This may help to explain why the D WR annual moose bid has sold as high as $16,000. John Kimball, a DWR big game manager, says the moose in. It could be just the opportunity our young people need to be come safe and ethical hunters under the guidance of an adult before they hunt on their own, according to Ed Comia, hunter education coordinator for the Division of Wildlife Resources.
