Show THE SAN JUAN RECORD mountains. For sheer beauty, our mountain scenery is hard to surpass. by Nola June Pehrson It rained steadily all Sunday Verla Marx received a newsy note from Elva Jones. Elvas daughter Ada came and took her to Mesa, then she flew to be with her sister Gladys in the lovely cool pines of northern California. Nice to hear from her. Eddie Boyles sister, Clarice Depriest, Bess Montgomery and a friend, Mary Finch, from Lonoke, Arkansas were recent visitors. They enjoyed our beautiful early fall, the flowers and especially the tangy taste of apricots. Did you know apricots do not grow in the south? We wish to extend a hearty welcome to our newest student. change blonde, green-eye- ex- Beautiful Camilla d Ahfeldt from Lund, Sweden, will make her home with the Eddie Allred family for the school year. Quite a change for her as she comes from a city of sixty thousand! She was one of 66 young people on the plane over. Our country will be richer for their presence. She loves our night. Monday morning found Abajo Peak shrouded in fluffy white clouds with dark blue timber beneath and a froth of whipped cream around its base. Mother Nature puts on her own special show each day whether we mortals care to observe or not. The Boat Show in Salt Lake was great, according to Afton and Ruth Hyde and Bill and Marge Dunow. The Hydes enjoyed a short visit with their son, Jerry, who had just returned from Brazil. Incidentally, Cortez also has a wide selection of great boats. Rigby and Della Wright were in Cortez to celebrate the 90th birthday of her mother, Fern Her five children Berry. s with grand and brought the number of family members gathered to 29. Mrs. Berry is a delightful lady. She made it a lively, day for everyone. That evening, the Cortez Senior Citizens held a dance in her honor. She loves to dance and feels slighted if she great-grand- fun-fille- d misses even one set. She lives alone, visits friends, keeps busy and wants to teach this rising generation the correct way to dance. May we all age so gracefully. Willard and Helen Howlett missed the Denver Broncos game but came home in a new Buick Century from the visit to Golden, Colorado, to see their daughter Karen and family. Their granddaughter, ReNae introduced them to her special friend. . .do we hear wedding bells? It was hard for the Doug and Annette Boyle family to say goodbye to their home and friends in Monticello. Strong emotional ties are built in six years. Doug has been transferred to American Fork where he will continue his work with Utah Farm Bureau Insurance Company. They will be missed. We all wish them well and hope they will visit often. Darroll and Leda Young have returned from a satisfying trip. They drove their car to Illinois to see Craig and his family. . . came back. . . changed to their motorhome and headed for California. They attended their oldest granddaughters wedding (Susan) at the Oakland temple then on to West Jordan, near Salt Lake to enjoy an open house for the newlyweds. Families are certainly the spice of life. 0a3iintefclMD0llI) MU GEM EXTENDED FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY!!
