Bishop Tim Perkins, a former Stake High Council member, now serves as bishop. Bishop Perkins, a native of Blanding, and his wife, Ivaloo, have three children. He has worked with youth most of his life in scouting and the MIA. His occupation has been mining and Blanding city engineer. His previous positions in the Church have been High Councilman, Elders Quorum president, and scout- master. Owen Peeler is Counselor assistant buyer for Energy ' Fuels. Joel Redd convincingly played the tyrannical role of James, Helen's half brother. Brief, but well-doscenes also included Lyle Bayles as Dr. Anagnos and John Erickson as a doctor. The San Juan Drama class is to be commended for its efforts. The set was extremely .well done with antiques and minute details, inthe water pump where cluding Anne's miracle" occurs. The audience was also delighted by . Danielle Wright, in the role Anne of Sullivan, made the audience laugh as she wrestled with Helen at the dinner table and proved herself to the Keller family. Danielle also showed her singing ability as she sang a lullaby in one scene. Other memorable performances were by Chad Hosier as Percy, the coloured boy; James Lacy as Captain Keller; Inglelise Nielson as Mrs. Keller, and Fernae Hunt none other than bread and during interjam mission served by the "blind refreshments children". As far as this reporter is concerned there are few places one can go to be better entertained than the San Juan Arena Theater. Visiting Kathryn Carter was Janie Palmer. Lilia Palmer's visitors were Eve Lynn Perkins, and Carolyn Walker. Gertrude Hodson's visitors were Marie and Ed Parker, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Phelps. Victor Peterson was visited by Maxine Graves and Victoria Utley. Karl Bartons visitors were Clyde, Nina and Wendy Barton. Visiting Wes Markham were Joseph Gonzales, as well as Gene and Francell Blickenstaff. Gene and Francell also visited Irene Redd, as did Morgan, Jessica and Josh Wolff, Jewell, Connie and Jerilyn Adams and children from great-gra- nd Mike, Geoff, Matt and American Fork Mike Blickenstaff. Lucinda Willis was visited by Helen and Grant Bayles and Elsie Rasmussen. Etta Steinbach was visited by Gretchen DeHaan. Visiting Jonathan Jones were his father and mother Willis and Veda Jones and his brothers and sisters. Rachel Short and Blanche Will were visited by Bud and Helen Adams from Moab. They took them to the Baptist Church and out to dinner. Teek Lyman were Visiting Daune and Lois Shumway, Dennis Cosby, Larry and Brett Lyman and Louisa Lyman. ' Anna Phillips was visited by Melvin and Melba Black, as well as, Alma Redd. Visiting with Dora Page were Neil and Dell Hatch from San Francisco. Activities for the week included a bus ride to Monticello, where we visited Fay Mosley, who is in the hospital. Those going were Helen Falconer, Nova Hannigan, Emily Spackman, Lucinda Willis, Rachel Short, Blanche Will, Donna Gilroy and Dave Guymon, driver. For Mondays bus ride we went to Combs Wash: Helen Falconer, Nova Hannigan, Rachel Short, Donna Gilroy, Blanche Will, and Dave Spackman Emily Guymon, driver. For arts and crafts we are working on cedar projects, St. Patricks Day decorations, and bead necklaces. We played bean bag toss and bingo. Kathleen Lyman played piano music for our dance. We would like to thank the teen volunteers who come up each they surely do brighten up day the Nursing Home!!! Also, we would like to mention that the following children came to say hello to all the grandmas here: Kali, Amber, Myrna, Audrey, Cedar, Aaron and Grady Keyser. In Resident Council Meeting this week we talked about concepts of value in working with older persons. We talked about maintaining a high level of expectancy and the importance of maintaining dignity and independence. We talked about the aged population being a heterogenous group which needs a variety of programs to meet their needs. Austin Lyman, Social Worker, led the discussion. Roger Stacy, pastor of First Baptist Church came on Thursday and sang several favorite hymns. Pastor Stacy comes each week at 11:00. |
