Show THE SAN JUAN RECORD Thursday, March 4, 1982 - Page 4 Con man leaves Monticello by Deborah Marcus On February 22 a man who himself as John L. identified Livingston checked into a Monticello motel room he did not use and cashed a $30 check which later proved to be phoney. Lenny Ray Campbell, 27, of Michigan was arrested approximately a week later on charges of theft, forging credit cards and checks and highjacking autos. Livingston and Campbell are believed to be the same man. Lenny Ray Campbell, impri for a week last year in lllnois, went on a hunger strike. He was released to become a soned wanted man in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Colorado and Utah. CampbellLivingston, who is believed to use the alias Colin Clark, is referred toon the wanted list as a con artist. His of operation includes method rolling a person whom he has picked up at a bar, which reportedly has been netting him over $100 per day. A man using the methods also richer $30 ascribed to Mobile Telephones Campbell was reported in the Colorado Springs area on February 21 and in Cortez on February 23. He was arrested in Arizona following a computer check of the license plate on the stolen car he was driving. Campbell faces several felony charges, but will probably not be extradited to Monticello for $30, Police Chief Everett says Johnson. He faces more serious charges in other states.
