Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Redd accompanied them. Veterans Day visitors of Mrs. Lucille Orr and family were Steven and Donna Cash and their children, Stephanie and Justin of Mancos, Colorado. x and LaRae Robson Ralph enjoyed a camping trip to Beef Basin from November 8. They drove home in the rain on Thursday, again - cutting their trip short. They said that the rain made the rocks and scenery in the area especially beautiful. Last week they went to Salt Lake on business and visited their kids a couple of days while there. Eva Johnson of Lehi visited friends in Monticello and 5-- Nancy Helquist went to Salt Lake last and returned on Sunday. Friday They visited Debbie and Harvey Gray and family. Weekend visitors of John and Corinne Roring were John and Tami Roring and baby of Provo, and Janie and John Lauritzen of Ogden. The Ror-in- gs had an early Thanksgiving dinner. Joining them from Blanding were Clara and Linda Forrest . and Carol Sorry I missed the American Cancer Society's exhibition of Main Street on the day of the Great Smokeout." They also attended a musical production in Mesa in which Joe Foy appeared, as well as a cousin of Clara Mae Hatch. In the first part of November the Monticello Second went to Manti on a Ward in honor of excursion temple former Bishop Cooper Jones and his counselors, Eddie Boyle and Dale Maughan. In all, 117 people from San Juan County participated. Coleen and Grant Bronson attended the November 2 wedding of Diane Tree and Gregory Wynham in the Salt Lake Temple. They also went to the wedding breakfast at the Lion House in Salt Lake and later in the evening to the reception at Kaysville. Diane is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tree, former Monticello residents. On their Salt Lake trip Carol Forrest and Nancy Hel- quist saw Dave and Karen Adams and family in Price. They were enroute to the BYU -University of Utah ball game. In Provo they saw Amber Dalton and Jim Codner, and in Salt Lake they saw Claudia Bennett and Ketron, Frances ' Eva Torres. Tikonis Club was held last week at the home of Marilyn with Lavee Scharif Rowley, as co - hostess. An election was held, and new officers are; Judy Chase, president; Edna Rogers, vice, - president, and Bonnie Day, secretary. Outgoing officers are Laine Livingston, Larraine Westcott and Barbara Shoemaker. Zoie Young holds the interest of a group of youngsters during story hour last week at San Juan Library in Monticello. Journal chronicles pioneer trek One hundred years ago this party set out on a southern route in mid - April and reached the San Juan River in June. They spent about two months in the area and in August they started back over a northern route and in mid -September they arrived back in Cedar, Utah. As the members of the San Juan Mission prepared to make a new settlement on the San Juan River they sent an ex ploratory party to find a route for them. We pick up the journal in its fifth week; Thursday, November 13: Three inches of snow fell last night but today is fine and clear. Rounded up the stock.
