After a year of therapy he was able to return home with his family. Carl was respected by all who CARL PERKINS By Florence Galbraith was born at Blanding July 27, 1917, and passed away home there this June 11 at the age of 61. He was the sixth child born to George William and Mary Ann Bayles Perkins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Earl, his sister Marie, and a baby brother, Don, who died at two months of age. He is survived by his wife Bernice and six children: She-i- ia Mortensen, Sandy Brown, Anne Howell, Monty, Chad and Heidi Perkins, eight grandchildren, two brothers, Clarence and Ray Perkins, and a sister, Rosela Millins ofSalt Lake City, and many nieces and nephews. Carl loved the out of doors and spent his early years working in the fields and on the range, working with cattle. He was one of the first Blanding men to be inducted into the Army for the Second World War. He left Blanding in January, 1942, and was soon promoted to corporal. Funeral services were held in the South Ward Chapel at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, with Bishop Francis D. Nielson of 5th Ward officiating. Perkins; speaker, lived in Blanding, and when their first child Sheila was five months old they moved to Burley, Idaho, bought a ranch and lived there two years, and another daughter Sandy was born there. Carl's mother passed away at this time sowhenCarl and family moved back to Blanding they moved into his mother s home where Carl was born, and lived there until the present.
