Mr. and Mrs. Red Poole came to visit Willie Poole, his mother. Seven of us went for a bus ride Monday afternoon in the senior citizens bus with Charles Homedew: Jenny Thompson, John Perkins, Laura Pehrson, Mollie Poche, Willie Poole, Helen Falconer, Lee Lansing, and Ima Jean. It was a nice day and we had a good time. LDS sacrament meeting was conducted by Clessa and Anthon Black. The opening song was When Upon Life's Billows" and the opening prayer was by Leonard Hurst. The sacrament song was How Great the Wisdom and the Love." Ihe speaker was Calvin Van Dyke, and a double quartet from the First Ward sang. The closing song was Israel, Israel, God is Cal- ling." The closing prayer was by Austin Lyman and the chorister was Melissa Keele. The pianist was Pauline Dean. Relief Society was held Tuesday. The opening song was O Thou Rock of Our Salvation. The opening prayer Weather was by Corine Pugh. The lesson was by Janice Hobbs on the Scope of Friendshipping". A song No Man is an Island was sung by Elaine Wright, accompanied by Jeanne Redd. The closing prayer was by Paula Jones. We went for a ride in the van with Ed Davis. There were John Perkins, Helen Falconer,, Yvonne Keele, and Laura Pehrson. Mollie Poche and Willie Poole went in wheelchairs. We went to Monticello. It was a nice day and a good ride. Mamie Adams came to the nursing home Wednesday to visit Jennie Thompson. She played several numbers on the piano before leaving. Monday home evening proby Kathleen and Austin Lyman and Mandy, Jenifer, and Colette. A piano solo Flow Gently,- - Sweet Afton was by Collette. The three little girls sang: Mr. Jack-- 0 -lantern", then Kathleen told a Halloween story, Jenifer read a poem and Colette sang Pumpkin Carol and Three gram was Little Witches". Kathleen companied on the piano. ac- We have a new patient here at the nursing home. She is Rachel Eyetoo. We had a real good movie this morning. It was For the Love of Mike". We have another new patient at the nursing home, MaryAt-citt- y. Rosa Dexter had visJanet Blake and Erma itors; Leavitt. Lee Lansing's uncle George came after him today and is taking him home for a week at Aneth. Mary Atcitty had company; Lydia, Vijil and Rose Ellen Mustache. For activity Friday at the nursing home Kristy made fudge and taffy. Winners of the volleyball tournament in Blanding were the Blanding 5th Ward Beehives. Photo by Marsha Keele. Blanding girls win tourney Culminating a day of playoffs, the Blanding 5th Ward Beehives took home a beautiful championship trophy. The tournament, which began at 8 in the morning on October 29, featured teams from both Monticello and Blanding and lasted until 5 in the afternoon. The sportsmanship trophy was received by the Monticello 2nd Ward. The team received medals and a new volleyball. Second place went to the Blanding 4th Ward team. The event was directed by stake sports director Kathryn Shumway with referees Doris Guymon and Jane Bayles. The tournament was highlighted by a special lunch of sloppy joes and ice cream and cake. Balloons soar over Monument Valley again Monticello council halts water hookups outside city limits by Margie The Monticello city council approved a moratorium on new water connections outside the city at it's meeting last week. City Manager Daniel Shoemaker said that the council cited supply and economics as the reason for the moratorium, saying that the council wishes study the city's water system. The council did not set a time limit on the moratorium. In other action the council appointed a planning commission. Named to the commission were Jim Black, Elwood Lovell, Gene Etherington, Bob Sparks and Bruce Halliday. The commission will work on city planning and zoning. The group will work closely with the city council and also the county. The council also discussed water meters inside the city, saying that older residents to without meters should have meters installed. It was reported that there will be a public hearing on the new ordinances on Wednesday, November 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the city office. The council also discussed the city's financial outlook and the annexation policy. Mr. Shoemaker also reported that there was some discussion on building permits. He said that the city may have to get stricter in enforcing the building permit system. City residents are required to obtain a permit before building or remodeling.
