The city has asked for a loan $100,000 interest-fre- e from the state board. The Mayor reported that the request wont be brought up until September 5th meeting of the state board. And the state official didnt sound too favorable for Monticello. The Mayor went on to say that Monticello came in about third in priority behind boom areas and areas needing money for improvements because of health reasons. The Council also discussed a $50,000 Four-Corne- rs Grant to help on the reservoir, and members planned to travel to Salt Lake City to push for the grant. In conjunction with the reservoir and city water the city council voted to place 300 feet of pipe north of highway 666 on the west side of Redds Motor at the request of four property owners, providing the owners file papers to be annexed to the city. City Manager Christensen reported that the reservoir was seeping a little and that it would soon be filled. There was some discussion as to whether or not the city should fill the reservoir completely this year. The council members decided to fill it and test the overflow system. Councilman Jim Black brought up the city police department, pointing out that there have been several break-in- s in seven days with no arrests and that traffic control seems poor. Councilmen said there was a need for a crackdown on reckless driving in the city, pointing out that two youths were seen earlier in the week riding on each others shoulders while riding a motorcycle. It was decided that the council would talk over the problems with the three city police officers.
