SETH SHUMWAY was 80 on April 16 and on April 17 the dumb photographer came by with only one shot left on his last roll of film. You always get at least one shot where a person closes their eyes when you're shooting with flash and we apologize to Mr. Shumway that the only shot we could take that day was that kind. This kind of thing is sure not to bother him, however, because he was out trapping in last winters cold and snow, as he has been for many, many years, and he is out gardening before most people are up any of these spring days. The cake he is pictured with was made for the occasion by Erva Shumway, his daughter-in-la- w and is topped with a couple of cows and some sagebrush, symbolic of Mr. Shumways continuing involvement w in farming and ranching. At a family party at Preston Nielsons , Mr. Shumway's birthday was celebrated by his wife and representatives of the families of all but one of his 11 living children. Also present was Mrs. Erva Shumway, widow of Burdette Shumway. Absent was Mrs. Joy Halliday of son-in-la- Springville, Arizona.
