The San Juan Broncos finished a highly successful track season last Saturday by taking the biggest prize of all - the Utah State Championship. After placing first in the two other big meets of the year-th- e Snow College Invitational and the B. Y. U. Invitational -the Bronco track and field men decided to make it a "Triple Crown" and came home from the University of Utah field with a first place trophy. The most amazing thing their victory was that it was accomplished with only six men. Dennis Bradford was the only double winner in the B school. His firsts came in the 100 yard dash with a time of 10. 2 and a leap of 21 feet 10 12 inches in the long jump. Monty Lee was another important factor in the Bronco victory. He placed first in the low hurdles and third in the pole vault. Le Grand Black, an outstanding runner, broke the tape several yards in front of his nearest competitor. His 880 time was 1:58.6. The other gold medalist for San Juan was Sandy Nielson, who put forth a tremendous effort to come from behind and take a first in the high hurdles. David Johnson's 4th in the long jump, and Art Burtenshaw's 3rd in the shot put added winning points to the Bronco total. San Juan finished the day with 53 points, 10 points ahead of 2nd place North Summit. They were the highest scoring school of the meet, A or B. Standing firmly behind the boys was a large crowd from Blanding, who have given their support all season as they have followed the boys from meet to meet. For any track team, the individual effort and dedication required in each event is tremendous, but the boys have trained themselves well, for HE CARRIES 5,000 all six are athletes, competing in football and basketball, as well as track. All of San Juan County is proud of the fine job they did at State and wish to salute them for bringing honor and recognition to the Southeast comer of Utah. ort DRUGS...N0T 200 In most retoil field, the typical store carries only enough varieties of goods to satisfy most customers, most of die time.
