Show Children drown in Lake Powell Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Burten-shawith Terri and Arthur, the rate of 40 ' !les per hour and sometimes a; high s 65 miles per hour, a 'size. boat and caused ir t Tragedy struck on Easter Sunday to the Wilfred Nielson family of Huntington, Utah, when the three small Nielson children were drowned. The family was spending the Easter holiday on Lake Powell and were out on the Lake in two boats. Mr. Nielson and their three children, Wilfred, age 7, Myra, age 6 and Raymond, age 5, were in one boat with Mrs. Nielson in another. At the mouth of Rainbow Canyon on Lake Powell the wind, which were blowing at - r turn. The small ildien were trapped beneath the boat and the father and rescuers were unable to get them out from under the boat. The bodies of the children were recovered by rescue workers and were taken to Kanab. Terri came during a semester break at the University to accompany her parents. They went to visit Mr. and Mrs. John Nielson. Mrs. Nielson is the former Trudy Burtenshaw. John is getting his Master's degree in Tucson and Trudy has done substitute teaching. The visitors reported the weather was nice except for a hard rain one day. Mrs. Audrey Halliday and her daughter Candace, enjoyed a short visit during spring vacation at the home of Mr. their children, enjoyed - w , Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Bleak came for a weekend visit with th.ir daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Helquist. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Harvey traveled o Salt Lake City to visit their daughters, Stella and Kathleen and their families. Johnny Helquist has been in Blanding visiting his parents, the John Helquists, his brother, Maurce and family, and his sisters, Bernice Perkins, Ora Bayles, Mrs. Phil Hawkins and Lily Mae Rowley. While here he helped his father in the fields. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Black spent the vacation in Salt Lake with their son, Raymond and family. Their daughter, Elaine joined them in Provo for the balance of the trip. Mrs. Vivian Redd has been in Pullman, Wn. , for the past two weeks where she welcomed a new granddaughter, bom March 28, to Mr. and Mrs. Kay Shumway. The little lady will be named Anita and she joins a brother and sister. Proud grandparents are the Alma Redds and the Lee Shumways of Blanding. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dyal came from El Cerito, Cal. , for a short visit with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lyman and to see their new grandson. They cared for the new baby and his older brother while the Lymans made a hurried trip to Salt Lake City to meet Mrs. Lyman's sister and new brother-in-laMr. and Mrs. Kenneth Corry, who were married last week in the Los Angeles Temple. Mrs. Minnie Green and Wanda Green and her two children enjoyed an Easter vacation in Tempe, Ariz. Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Guymon and three daughters spent Easter with their parents, the David Guymons and the Merrill Stevenses. They were accompanied by Alta Rowley Wilcock who visited her sister, Mrs. Mary Stevens. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Rowley were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Rowley of Las Vegas, Nev. Another son and his family, the Conrad Rowleys, came from Provo where Conrad is currently working on his doctorate at B YU. Mrs. Elaine Robbins, daugh- I ter of the late Edward and Mary I Stevens, has completed her thesis for her Master's degree in Literature and will receive the same in June from Utah State University. She teaches at Logan High School and her husband, Claude, a former teacher in Blanding, teaches at Brigham City High School. The Robbinses have six children and both of them teach French. Visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Stevens is their daughter, Mrs. Mildred Apadaca and her three children, who live in Riverton, Wyo. They plan to stay several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Redd enjoyed a short vacation in Mesa, Ariz. , last week where they visited the Temple. Mrs. Mary Laws is back in Blanding after wintering with her children. She left around Christmas and has spent a good deal of time in Ogden and Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. La Veil Palmer and son, Gary, and his girl friend, Karen, spent the weekend in Blanding at the home of his mother, Mrs. Lelia Adair. Saturday they went to Window Rock with the Ed Black family, the Richard Perkins family and the Bumhard Black family to meet the Bruce Black family and the Allan Palmer family for an Easter picnic. In all about 35 people were there which included 20 active youngsters. Mrs. Alta Wilcock was an overnight guest of Mrs. Adair's during the weekend. Relatives have received word that former Blandingite, Molt Carroll, has undergone surgery on his eye. Mrs. Carroll is a sister of Harvey Kartchner and Mrs. Lelia Adair, both of Blanding. Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Black brought their family from Salt Lake for a visit with their parents, the Edson Blacks and the Harris Shumways and with their brothers and sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Black were hosts Saturday evening to Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Black, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Orr, Mr. Ren Peterson came from S afford, Ariz. , to visit his son, Jay, and his daughter, Barbara Homedew, and their Establish your credit BEFORE Sale Time 1!
