License Deadline Near A new fishing and hunting license will be a necessity for the Utah outdoorsman, beginning, April 16, as Division of Fish and Game Conservation Officers will begin close checks to see that all fishermen have a proper license. The new licenses will be available later this week from license agents in all parts of the state, allowing ample time to make a stop before going on a fishing trip after the new license deadline. Because of the usual deadline rush for licenses, a close check should be made before leaving the license agents. Be sure you have the type of license you want. An occasional bird license has been sold to a fisherman or an adult license to a juvenile. Be sure you get the eight goose tags if you purchase a I Wild Turkey and they will remain on sale until the close of the season. The Utah Board of Fish and Game held a meeting At this meeting they bird proproved a non-game clamation declaring year license. Nonresidents under 12 years of age may purchase a season nonresident license for $7.50 but they may only take one half of the adult limit. Nonresidents under 12 may now purchase a fishing license and this allows them to catch the same number of fish as a resident under 12. Residents, however, under 12 may fish without a license. License agents have been instructed to check carefully when selling a license to a juvenile to be sure they have proof of passing the hunter safety course. No changes were made in the fees for resident or nonresident licenses. Nonresidents under 12 may purchase a 2 or 5 day liscense and take a half limit of fish or buy a full season license for $7. 50 and take a half limit of fish. The first rush for new licenses is expected for anglers going to Flaming Gorge Reservoir and Lake Powell and by turkey hunters who begin their season on April 26. Turkey Permits on Sale Soon r'ermits ior tne Wild Turkey season starting April 26, will go on sale at Division of Fish and Game offices Monday, April 14, and hunters will be able to get their 169 license at the same time. The spring season will be for male birds only. A season limit of two gobblers was set by the Board of Fish and Game with legal shooting time as daylight hours. Areas open during the April 26 - May 11 season are Iron, Kane, Garfield, Sevier, Wayne and Grand counties along with parts of Washington and San Juan counties. Applications for the $3 turkey permits will be accepted by mail or by personal application. Mailed applications must contain the hunter's name, address, 1968 hunting license number and a check or money order for the proper fee. Persons 12-years of age Wild Turkey but may hunt they must be accompanied by someone over 21 years of age. Sucessful hunters must remember to leave one wing fully feathered attached to their bird if they field dress their birds to permit identification as a legal male turkey.
