If spirit matters, Monticello can be regarded fit for battle. Able golfer Ben Askews golf game was geared for social golf last week in the company of Dr. Goon and Ken Coates. Dr. Goon turned tiger on Ben at the second hole. Askew was studying his birdee putt on the sloping second; Dr. Goon, golfing on the Tibetan-remo- te part of the course, and needing field glasses to see the pin, went into his 397 degree arc. Brush flew, birds scattered, and the ball hopped into the cup for a Dr. Goons career shot unsettled Big Ben, and as he walked to the next tee, he mumbled something about rabbits being lifted out of hats. The Boyle-Woo- d golfing situation, fanned by claim and counterclaim of victory, may reach the Supreme Court. Boyle had plans to have his score card printed, full page, in the Record. Cooler heads had the situation checked then Gordon dropped his bomb; Wood contends Boyle hopes for weekend storms so that the showdown can be postponed.
