Show 4A Emery County Progress, Castle Pale, Utah' Tuesday, August 1 7, 1999 1st Annual Emery County Relay for Life A time to honor cancer survivors and victims Cancer survivors from throughout the county began the relay to raise funds for the American Cancer Society on Aug. 13 with the Survivors Lap. The luminary lighting ceremony reminded participants on the main goal of the American Cancer Society, to offer hope to cancer patients. Luminaries lite up the whole Emery High School track ter the lighting ceremony. , af- Many people took advantage of the opportunity to honor a family member, loved one or friend by lighting an lumi- nary in their honor or memory. Kathy Deabenderfer honored two family members at the ceremony. Charissa Bell, daughter of Julie and Mike Sprague of Castle Dale, received a little help from her parents and baby sister Elizabeth as she continued toward her goal of 150 laps. At the time this photo was taken she had completed 136 laps to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. |
