Frist Jr., M.D., new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ColumbiaHCA, he addresses the question of where our company is headed. Dr. Frist writes First and foremost, we remain committed to providing quality healthcare to the more than 100,000 patients who depend on us each day. Our new strategic direction emphasizes that healthcare is local - a matter between pa- tients and their physicians. This means that we must respond to the needs of the community and cultivate a values-base- d culture built on compassion, integrity, teamwork, trust and honesty. Dr. Frist concludes by say- ing On a personal note, becoming CEO of this company at this point in my life was not in my game plan, but the success of ColumbiaHCA is critical to communities around the country. In 40 countries, we are the sole provider of hospital care; we are one of two hospitals in 30 or more. I wont leave this company until we have resolved the government issues and rebuilt the trust and respect of our many stakeholders including our affiliated physicians, patients, employees, partners and communities. Columbia Castleview Hospital is also committed to providing quality healthcare close to home. . Our medical staff is comprised of 28 physicians. Active recruitment of physicians has been successful this year in the addition of two new internal medicine physicians to our medical staff. Dr. Daniel Monahan and Dr. Poitras have recently joined the Castleview team. Castleview continues to be involved in the recruitment of additional family practice physicians and a pediatrician. Castleview recently sponsored a Community Appreciation Day. Over 130 community members took advantage of the free screenings and health information. Along with Dr. Wally Snihurowych, the hospital has also sponsored Prostate Cancer Screenings free of charge. As a Partner in Education, Castleview has once again adopted Notre Dame Regional School. At Castleview Hospital, tient satisfaction is our pa- pri- mary goal. In order to be in touch with the needs of our community, Castleview is actively involved with 14 task force committees with over 300 community members that address concerns and actively work together to achieve identified goals. Castleviews 365 employees generate an annual payroll of $6.8 million and the hospital pays $150,000 in local taxes, contributing to the economic vitality ofthe community. Our hospital also provides over $300,000 in uncompensated care annually. Our 40 member Volunteer Auxiliary serve community residents with over 8,800 vol- unteer hours yearly at our hos- pital.
